Borgo Vecchio Locanda di Charme

I was bringing a group of six people for four rooms to this hotel. On our arrival to Milan, my mother-in-law fell at the airport and broke her arm badly. This meant that three of us (two rooms) had to return to the U.S. for her surgery. The hotel aggressively hounded me for full payment that first day. I did the right thing and made full payment for the stay via credit cardt. The hotel said they would try to "re-open" the room for other potential guests. I only assumed that honest and reasonable people running a hotel would give a partial refund for nights when the rooms were rebooked, if that happened. Our friends who stayed at the hotel reported that one room appeared to be re-booked for a night and the other room was re-booked for two. It only seems fair and reasonable that they would give a partial refund. But no... the hotel profited from my mother-in-law's broken arm and our forced cancelation. They double dipped by also collecting payment from additional guests. They made MORE money than if we had been able to arrive and stay. Again, I never asked for a full refund. I understand that. But the fact they would refuse repeatedly to give a partial refund... that makes me want to NOT reschedule our vacation and not give this hotel a second try.

The room was gorgeous, spacious, comfortable. Modern, with coffee machine, excellent shower, big comfortable bed, small balcony with view to Barbaresco in an old house in the centro storico on Neive, a most beautiful village of Italy. There was a bit of dog barking noise one night but otherwise silent. Charming receptionist.They could do better with water provision, no re-supply and only a small amount provided. It would be 5 stars until breakfast....Breakfast is included but was plated food consisting of cake, 'cream' filled cannoli, sweet croissant: nothing I want, that would all be wasted after. Ghastly orange coloured, sweet juice. Dust dry bread. Good cheese and bowl of fresh cut fruits and coffee. There is cooked food on request at extra cost. The restaurant in the evening is also mediocre. Better to stay and decline breakfast, go elsewhere. Would go back for the room and location in a heartbeat.

Fantastic spacious room, comfortable bedding and good quality linen; very clean and very friendly staff. The breakfast is also excellent and the view superb from all the rooms. Walk to everything in this very charming village and easily accessible to all the towns and vineyards in the area.

Lovely room, lovely dinner and lovely people. But beware the room above the kitchen, where the frequently-used double hinged door in the busy kitchen was very audible in our room (note for the management, you can probably change this quite easily with different, less heavy duty hinges). Check out their own wine - also lovely.

Wonderful place, room/suite was perfect, very spacious, clean and with a beautiful view. The staff was great as well and extremely friendly. They will go out of their way to make you comfortable and happy! The breakfast was huge and tasty with salty and sweet delicacies, with the option to order some eggs the way you like them. Cannot wait to go back and try the restaurant!

Love this hotel and the staff and the whole little town of Neive. We have been in Neive about 8 times but have never stayed at this hotel before. But we will come back. Food is excellent and location is perfect! Beautiful views from the restaurant terrace.

This is a lovely boutique hotel. Our suite was spacious, nicely furnished and, importantly during our visit, had very effective air conditioning. The balcony offered a lovely view of the vineyards but it is set just above the restaurant, making its use while the restaurant roof is open a little uncomfortable. The living room armoire is furnished with a mini fridge, coffee maker and multiple types of coffee cups and glassware. The bathroom was large, with a well designed stand-alone shower, lots of towels and nice toiletries. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were given a glass of wine and crostini upon arrival. Breakfast is served at tables in the restaurant; one morning Sofania reset a table just so we could eat on the balcony instead of at the table set inside. The breakfast consists of a plate of cheese and ham “cooked by the chef” along with individual plates of cut fruit, a roll, croissant, and fruit bread. It was a nice change from the usual buffet breakfasts. Neive is a tiny town but brimming with hospitality. This hotel definitely embodies that spirit.

If you’re looking for a nice hotel right in the middle of this famed wine region, look no further! Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again!

Very cute hotel in Nieve. Very calm with all the accommodations. No cars in the village, it’s very appreciate during the night. We stay two nights in May. Restaurant in the hotel is very good. I would recommend the Traditional Menu. Absolutely stunning ! We took the Suite with jacuzzi on the terrasse. Beautiful and peaceful.
