Just wow! I just finished checking out of this agroturismo and I couldn’t wait to write a review. The hotel is set up on a hilltop with expansive and breathtaking views of Lake Como and the mountains. The hotel is immaculately clean and well kept. I had the lower level room that didn’t have a view but it was massive. The air conditioners worked extremely well. The beds were comfortable, and it even had a washer in the room. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the ferry. It’s a bit of a steep walk so if you’re walking with luggage, coordinate with Ms. Mary and you can leave luggage at a restaurant across from the ferry, and they will take it to the hotel for you. The breakfast in the morning was all fresh with items that they grow on site. In the evenings you can have wine and cheese with a view of the sunset. So glad I stayed here, and will definitely come back but with my husband because it’s a very romantic setting.
I've stayed in so many hotels through Italy, from two through to five stars, and this has to be the worst. As a solo traveller, I am used to paying the same cost as others sharing a room. Firstly, Hotel Silvo put me in the only disabled access room in the hotel - when I booked a double room with a balcony - not the disabled room. Secondly, the drain in the shower was blocked, which I discovered while showering. This resulted in standing in disgusting drain water that pooled in the shower floor. Thirdly, as the room is for disabled access, the shower had a very minimal lip. With the water pooling in the base, it leaked all over the bathroom and out to the bedroom. Fourthly, the only powerpoint with the plug that fits the adapters, was on the floor outside the bathroom. With the water running into the bedroom, all my electronics which were charging got wet. Fifthly, I tried to call the hotel from the phone next to the bed, only to discover, the phone was not working. Sixthly, I reported to reception the next morning, as there are no staff at reception at night, who was very nice and helpful. However, she couldn't give me another room as the hotel was fully booked. I requested a refund, as this was not the room I paid for and all the drama with the room. Reception asked her manager to which the answer was no, they offered me a free pass to go to the 10 euro beach next door. As the drain is a health and safety issue, as well as not the room I booked, a refund should be expected. There are no hangers to hang towels, so had to use the shower rail, the room is small and I'm not sure how someone who was disabled would be able to access the balcony, as I had to squish around the bed to be able to get to it. The bed was not comfortable, and there was a green light on the roof right near the bed, which stayed on all night and was really annoying when trying to go to sleep. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. The positive was the view, which doesn't make up for the negatives with everything else. Absolutely would never stay here again, and I would recommend you look elsewhere to book if staying in Bellagio.
