I attended Hockley Valley Resort for a two day conference. I had previously attended a conference at this resort 10 years ago and had fond memories. Check-in was easy, and my room was ready prior to the 4:00 PM check-in. The process was simple and staff were polite and efficient. The problem began in the room. What a tired dilapidated accommodation. I was in room 353. Upon entering I noticed when I put my computer bag on the desk it was beaten up, old and needed paint. I noticed the night table was also water damaged and splitting. It's only furniture but at a rate of $350 a night? I went to close the drapes and discovered only one sheer drape and the black out drapes would not meet leaving a 4” gap. In the bathroom, I discovered an outdated vanity and no sink stopper. The toilet seat was missing a cover for the two rusty seat screws and the paint repair adjacent to the tub was mismatched in an un professional manner. On the second night of my stay I saw housekeeping had turned down my bed covering only to display black hairs (I have gray hair) on my sheets. The pillow on my bed proudly displayed the remnants of blood or makeup. What a disappointment. I will say the staff in the bar and dining room were exceptional. The food was excellent, even for a buffet breakfast. The rooms need help and updating to lose the tired roadside motel ambiance. Upon check out I expressed my concern at which point apologies were made and I was advised renovations were planned. If you stay look at the room closely first.
