Not sure why this hotel is so highly rated. Nothing about it is terrible, but the devil is in the details. The Good: - Staff is super friendly, incl. the valet - Rooftop pool and bar are really nice and a great feature - Overall layout of the hotel is charming - Great water pressure and genourous rooms The not so good: - Upon check-in, they tried charging us a 240/day ”resort fee”. After further questioning they said it was optional and would pay for the WiFi and the gym. Not a great business practice, espcially for a 5* hotel - Overall the hotel looks a bit dated and would benefit from some more maintenance - We booked a double room but were given a king room - when they showed us to a double room it was quite dirty - dirt on the linens, bathroom counter wasn't wiped down - so we just made do with the king instead - Beds weren't terrible, but I've slept better Location is a bit off the beaten path. Not bad but is was about a 20-30 walk to the city centre and the nicer restaurants.
Beautiful, elegant property, large pool is gorgeous, very relaxing and calming, very romantic, excellent service, I liked that more locals come here to visit, it doesn't feel touristic, has more authentic feel. The property has obviously the hacienda style but also mixed with Asian style, which I love. The spa was beautiful inside, and also an amazing experience, was second best massage I have ever had, the Banyan Tree in Bangkok is better, the experience was similar but not on the same level as Bangkok. The food was excellent, flavorful (except the verde chilaquiles, a little bland, but that probably not the region's specialty), the pibil and lime soup was best I ever had next to Kinich restaurant, I loved the molletes, it was really good, different style than Mexico City but very good and filling, loved the pickled tomatoes on top. I love that they support the local community and buy food from them, this is really nice that the hotel gives back to the community. My suggestions, since they are expanding is add free environmentally safe citrus spray to guests for mosquitoes like they do in Thailand, we stayed in the Xcanatun room with private pool, maybe have that pool a little heated, the bathtub in the room really for just one person, maybe make it big enough for couples to take a bath together, that would be really nice. Also, I am very picky about my cocktails, I get it, this location is in an obscure place, but it is part of Banyan Tree Group, people are paying a lot for the rooms, they need to up their game where drinks are concerned, why can't I get a mezcal sour (with egg white) - maybe they should compare with Mexico City's Four Season's Fifty Mils Bar and Carlotta at the Ritz Carlton, drinks like Lola Bunny with carrot juice, habernero syrup, beet shrub, lemongrass, gin or spicy cucumber mezcal sour at the Ritz, with chapulin salt - the cocktails at Xcanatun they think adding Sprite to cocktails makes it a good combination, Sprite is worst thing you can add to a cocktail. Also you shake the cocktails with ice but generally if you put ice in the cocktail it will melt and water down the drink. Albeit, my husband said this is the best room he has ever stayed at, that this was better than Qualia in Hamilton Island....

We stayed here for one night in December 2022. The hotel is very well located, just a couple of blocks from the main square. All around there are plenty of shops and restaurants. We stayed on the 10th floor and there was little noise. We stayed in what I think is called a ”studio” room, which was quite small: not much room around the bed. Other people in our group stayed in rooms with two double beds and their rooms were quite large. Overall, the hotel was ok, but not flash.

Just spent 2 nights here but found the hotel to be well connected with free parking, shopping and restaurants; what else do you need? It is actually connected to a shopping center that has a Walmart. We ate at two of the three restaurants located in the mall and found others that we tried as well. Nice décor and good size comfortable rooms. Hope to return one day.
ผผู้เข้าพักThe hotel is very comfortable, modern, chic and clean The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They allowed us to check in a bit earlier as our room was ready and we had an early arrival to Merida in the Maya train from Cancún (highly recommended experience too!). We were welcomed with a glass of ice-cool water which was perfect as the weather was much hotter than anticipated in Merida. The pool was super refreshing, the toiletries and bedlinen beautiful and the whole place is an oasis in the middle of a very central street, close to everything yet quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend!
Eeliset vThe hotel is nothing short of beautiful and breathtaking aesthetically! You are in great care in every way with the staff and the hotel owner in every way you can of. They are all very catering and friendly ! They make some delicious food and make you feel at home! Very clean and replenished daily! I celebrated my birthday their and they made me a beautiful towel decorate cake just like in a cruise ship. I highly recommend staying in this beautiful hotel boutique it’s a whole and memorable experience, you won’t regret it ! Very central to all the downtown attractions and walking distance to the Mercado, cathedral , and various plazas nearby ! Definitely going back to stay with them soon !
This hotel has water issues like everyone is talking about. They have to tank the water in and they constantly run out. It ran out on a Sunday so they could not get more water. They blamed the restaurant that rents out of their building for leaving a tap on that didn’t help fight that we couldn’t shower for a day. Then the days we could shower the water was always cold. I overheard them giving gas that were definitely from Mexico Free breakfast for the inconvenience but for the Canadian American guest they offered nothing. I called them out on it and said this was unfair. The front desk was completely rude said it wasn’t their problem and that their manager wasn’t in on Sunday to take care of this, and that was from a previous day, I spoke to those guest and they said that’s not true and that they got it because of the cold water and lack of water issues. The location is good. The hotel is clean, but it is falling apart. Nothing works and the toilet can’t flush paper which meant you had to put dirty paper towels in the garbage next to the toilet. They also try to charge you for everything like if you lose a room key which cost them pennies they want to charge you a fee for issuing a new one and you don’t even get a second one so you constantly have to be with your people they also threaten to charge us for taking the towels to the beach, and then upon arrival, they said that my kids because they were over 12 had to pay I said you had to buy another room. I would stick to the chain hotels from the US as they would never treat their customers like this customer service in Mexico is really sad. the only highlight was the cleaning staff. The hotel is extremely clean and they are very attentive.
We stayed one night before flying out of Merida and that was enough. Perfectly safe place but obviously older and not the cleanest or best maintained. Room was large but half-empty and simple. Beds were not very comfortable. No elevator. No breakfast. Lovely courtyard and small pool area which people enjoyed. It was worth what we paid (very inexpensive) and we felt safe, but is not for relaxing or being pampered. There are better options nearby for slightly more money.
