Galaxy Villas

This place is awful it’s like a hostel not a hotel our rooms were gross mouldy walls and ceilings, stunk of damp , the beds were damp and the ceilings leak when it rains, very outdated , I don’t think the floors had been swept for weeks I had to ask the cleaner for a sweeping brush , the manager wasn’t very helpful he was to busy doing shots and perving around a group of young girls

My first solo holiday booked as a package with Easyjet holidays. I arrived at around 1am and as per other reviews saw a note on the door with a number to call. A gentleman answered and a couple of minutes later appeared. I think his name is Antonio (it was very early in the morning) he took my case for me and lead me to reception where he got me a bottle of water, fetched my room key (a proper key - you don’t get that much these days) and led me to my room. As I’d read other reviews I knew there would be a lot of steps, also Crete is a hilly island so unless your accommodation is right by the beach expect there to be steps. I would say though that if you emailed reception before you came that they would make every effort to allocate you a room closer to the top of the complex. My room (although more like a little apartment) was at the bottom of the complex. After some sleep (and yes the mattress is firm but I like that) a good look around revealed a fairly spacious, simply yet adequately furnished room with a good size bathroom. As seen on other reviews there were differences in the level of the sleeping area to the living area demoted by a step that I would say is about 3-4 inches (so around 10cm) in height - just something to be mindful of if you get up in the night!) The kitchen area had a fridge, kettle and counter top oven/hot plate. There was some cutlery in the drawer, basic cooking utensils and some crockery and glasses - enough to make a simple breakfast if you didn’t want to use the hotel restaurant and have water, wine/beer and snacks in the fridge. I wouldn’t say you would want to cook a full meal - but with so many restaurants nearby at various price points why would you! Patio doors from both the bedroom and living room revealed a private little seating area with a small table and chairs and a sea view. Being May not all the rooms were booked so it was quite quiet at this end of the complex. I went back up to reception to finish the check in process and met Mario, I found him to be a very gregarious guy, very chatty, would wave to guests as they came and went, and gave me some suggestions for things to do and see. I’d seen that some reviews found him to be rude but he was never that way when I saw him. There is a main pool that is quite deep with steps at the side to get in not the more common very shallow end but a ladder (I hope that makes sense) and a small very shallow kiddies pool. The bar area is very pleasant with lots of tables with parasols for shade. Inside there are lots of seats and the restaurant, the upper level has a pay-to-play pool table and some more seats. I found all the staff to be lovely, would always say hello and the room was beautifully clean. The floors are stone some can feel a little gritty underfoot so maybe bring some cheap spa type slippers. They have a little area at the back of reception where you can leave your case if you have time to fill between checkout and getting to the airport but no

A basic yet functional hotel, we booked a cheap deal so was not disappointed. The whole place is in need of some TLC and the rooms would benefit from a few mod cons but must say were very clean and were cleaned every day and fresh towels also daily. The staff were great and aways helpful. One word of caution there are lots of steps to the vast majority of the villas so if you have mobility issues this is not the place for you. Only had one evening meal and one breakfast in the hotel the evening meal was good the breakfast was basic for the €10 price. The Galaxy is well located for the village of koutouloufari which is an amazing place.

….just back from an excellent stay here…and it gets 10/10 from me…great location…clean…good value for money..friendly and helpful staff…good breakfasts…the view across to the sea is splendid..and the individual villas give a feel of privacy …would definitely return.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Galaxy Villas, we both had a really enjoyable and memorable stay, we'll definitely visit again. We first visited Koutoulaufari in September 2023 and fell in love with such a beautiful, authentic Greek village. We decided to stay at Galaxy Villas and we weren't disappointed, our villa was a sea view, so quiet and quintessential Greek. Our stay was for 5 nights to celebrate my Husband's birthday. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Thank you once again!!

Lovely villas, very friendly staff and nice setting. A lot of steps which didn’t bother us but could be a problem for others. Normally plenty of sun beds. Nice clean villa. Plenty local bars and restaurants and a 15 min walk down to beach and lots of bars. Already planning on going back. And thanks to the lovely lifeguard who helped when I cut my toe.

This is our 5th stay at Galaxy Villas. We return because the: • views are stunning • rooms are spotless • staff are so helpful, friendly and entertaining • pool is my favourite pool out of any resort I’ve stayed in • food is lovely • the vibe is so relaxed We come as a family of 3 and consider koutouloufari the most stunning village with beautiful streets, shops and restaurants. Thank you for always providing a perfect holiday for us.

Just spent a week here and had a nice time. The cons - From checking in at reception to our villa it was a bit of a trek with lots of stairs especially with luggage. Upon arrival at the villa (we arrived late at night) the room felt quite dark and dingy and not as advertised, didn’t feel dirty but didn’t feel overly clean - we were also greeted with a huge cockroach in the bedroom. You operate the hot water through a breaker box which you need to switch on 10 mins before getting in shower, however even with doing this the water was luke warm at best and lasted this temperature for about 5 minutes. Two single beds in the main bedroom which the hardest mattress I’ve ever slept on in my whole life. Air con is paid separately and is €8 a night. The pros - Lovely, friendly staff especially at pool bar. Pool is nice and quiet and although quite small, we always got a sunlounger and is very chilled out. Lovely gardens surrounding the hotel and views from pool area. Food and drink really well priced and really tasty. The balcony in the villa are really nice to sit and chill after a day at the pool. Koutouloufari is only a couple minutes walk away and Hersonissos is about a 20 minute walk. The bakery across the road is amazing! Overall, a very pleasant stay in a lovely location.

We've been to koutouloufari many times but this was our first stay at Galaxy Villas. Its an old hotel with lots of steps l, but set in on the side of a mountain, I would expect nothing less. I 100% would stay here again. We was in room 28, big spacious and cool throughout the day even without the aircon on. You do need to get up early to secure a space by the pool, but for us, that wasn't a problem. The staff are just amazing. Sophia, Elana and Mario are so friendly and make you feel so welcome. Everything is done with a smile. The rooms are clean, the food was tasty and location is perfect. The only negative would be that the pool is so deep with minimal shallow end so wouldn't be good for non swimmers or people who ate not comfortable in water. See you next year guys 😘😘
