I lived in Detroit 25 years ago and loved exploring the city. now, that there has been a revival, it is a delight to continue that exploration. this place was the Wurlitzer building where friends have talked about their grandfather's playing in bands in the 20's. so I thought it would be fun to check it out. the best way to say it is that the staff seems to be truly new to hospitality. if you only care about the location then yes, stay here. if you care about being taken care of even on a small level it is not for you
Extremely loud hotel. Outdoor bar next door plays music until 1AM. Booked this hotel for a marathon needing to be up at 5AM and haven't been able to get any sleep (currently 11PM). Can also hear the valet 3 floors below so windows must not be very sound proof. TV goes black every 10 minutes so that's been useless to drown out any noise. Can hear the sounds of the rooms next door as they close their blinds. One side table the plugs do not work. Hotel is well appointed and in a good location though. But for $400+ I expect to do what I booked the hotel for, and that is sleep. I suppose my review would be higher if I wanted to party. The fact that no compensation was offered and barely an apology is unacceptable from a 5-star hotel.
I spent one night at the Hollywood ****** at Greektown. I did not visit the ******. I was looking for a nice place to stay for the night. The hotel grounds were 4-stars. I arrived around 7 PM. It took some time to check in because I had to wait for a number of others who qualified for the VIP check-in line.
I stayed in a basic, twin queen room. The room and bathroom were nice and modern. Shortly after getting into my room, bright exterior lights turned on - shining in the direction of my room. I couldn't see what they were illuminating, but if I had to guess, it was perhaps the hotel name written on the exterior. Those lights stayed on all night. The drapes didn't completely cover the windows, so my room was illuminated all night. The room stayed one temperature despite what the thermostat was set to. There was an intermittent hum coming from the in-wall heater as if it was revving up. I ultimately slept with earplugs.
I am have been able to overlook the illuminated room, dysfunctional thermostat, and intermittent hum if I was there for other reasons than to sleep, like to visit the ******, or go out.
We stayed here for one night on July 27, 2024 to go to a Detroit Tigers baseball game. The valet, front desk clerk and another staffer Jay were all so friendly and helpful. Our check in was quick and efficient. The room was very nice with comfortable beds and nice clean, comfortable sheets. Jay helped to give us advice to take the free People Mover to the baseball game. We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I wanted to do a staycation with our two young sons (5 and 7), and we could not have picked a better location. The Cambria is absolutely beautiful! They staff were are courteous and provided excellent service, the ambiance and aesthetics were flawless, and the surrounding amenities and attractions are spot on. I loved everything about our stay! In addition, I was fortunate to meet one of the hotel executives (Nick), and he is the man! Super cool guy, laid back, and showed me that he truly cares about guests having a wonderful experience. That was a tremendous bonus during our time, and I look forward to our next visit. Definitely recommend staying here for any occasion or celebration. A.T.
This is NOT the ALoft. The Hotel David Whitney is a stunning, sophisticated hotel that we will visit again. Perfectly located it is walking distance to all of downtown Detroit. We could see Ford Field and Tiger Stadium from our windows, just a few blocks away. The first night we were here they were shooting a Dodge Charger commercial on the street below us, it was fun to watch. We stayed here for a show at the Fox theater which was also just a short walk. There is a People Mover station attached to the building, unfortunately it was being serviced during our visit. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. We had a one bedroom suite which felt like our own apartment in the city. It was really well appointed, leather couch, marble and wood floors, even a washer/dryer. Desmon at the front desk checked us in and was super helpful throughout our stay. The lobby is impressive and has a historical elegance about it. Restaurant, coffee shop and bar are all in the building, which was convenient.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay! We had a two bedroom apartment on the top floor. The view was beautiful with gorgeous giant windows! The Kasa team has a quick response time and are super helpful. The beds were comfy, plenty of towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. Location was great for attending a wedding at the Detroit Highlands. The neighborhood felt very safe. Campus martius is a quick walk and fun for holiday festivities! There are a lot of restaurants in walking distance, the 7/11, and a CVS. We enjoyed Avalon bakery, Charminar Biryani House, and Astoria Pastry Shop! There is a lot of parking nearby.
Rooms were clean and staff was great so was breakfast! Rich the shuttle driver was fantastic! So nice and funny and gave us a bit of history while he drove us to our destination! He truly was on of the highlights of our trips! He was timely and polite and helped us in and out of the car because we were in heals!
