Leuk, gezellig hotel in een woonwijk van Weimar, op loopafstand van het leuke centrum. Kamer was ruim, sfeervol ingericht en schoon, prima en uitgebreid ontbijt en een heel vriendelijke medewerkers. Wij zaten in kamer 3 op de begane grond.

MMetznerDas Hotel selbst, und das Personal sind hervorragend. Alles sauber, die Leute sehr freundlich und bedienen effektiv und ohne Wartezeiten. Das Essen ist preiswert, Portionen (zu) groß, schmeckt gut, kommt jedoch an die gehobene Küche eines Michellin-Sterneniveaus nicht heran. Leider war die Hoteleigen Tiefgarage schon besetzt, so dass ich im öffentlichen an der Post (mit Auto 250m, zu Fuß gut 50m) mein Auto abstellen musste, ist aber auch problemlos.

Location, lovely restaurant and great staff I booked because it’s right opposite the train station ….. but this hotel is so much more. Often ‘right opposite the train station’ means you are sacrificing something in terms of appearance and slight seediness for the convenience - but not here ! It’s a lovely old hotel (with a nice history), restored several times over the years, with a particularly impressive glass-surrounded restaurant for all meals. Location - as well as being on a pretty square right in front of the train station it’s less than 10 minutes’ easy straight line walk from the museums and the historic old town. There are plenty of nicely located hotels in the centre too by the way - just not as good for train access. The hotel restaurant is a real delight. Go for the breakfast buffet with some of the best prepared hotel bacon I have ever come across - crispy, fat-free and warm - plus all the usual egg, cereal, fruit salad and bread options. Standard coffee good German filter not espresso (though that’s available at the bar); orange juice average. Supper was freshly cooked smallish choice (these do go hand in hand, of course) - have a look at the menu in advance and if there’s something you like the look of eat here, quality is excellent. Staff very friendly; rooms moderate size, very clean, toiletries provided (shower gel and shampoo, no lotion or conditioner). Large non-leaky showers. You can claim a free snack if you forego your room servicing (!) ….. Rooms are non-smoking but they provide a smokers’ lounge for *******. To be recommended.

Hotel Leonardo is located opposite Goethe's Ilmpark at 3.7km distance of Weimar railway station. The hotel was planned before the fall of the Berlin Wall by Interhotel DDR and opened in 1992. The hotel offers 294 rooms over 6 floors. Furnishings and decoration provide a pleasant and up-to-date atmosphere. There is a bar, restaurant & indoor pool. In July 23 the sauna wasn’t open. Service is friendly. We had a quiet room at floor 3, backside. Our nicely furnished room had desk & chair, hot-water facility for tea, TV, wardrobe, air-conditioning, complimentary mineral water, and 2 very good twin-beds. We had a bathroom with washbasin, toilet & shower over the bath. Window can be opened in safety mode. Good Wi-Fi. All was very clean. A good buffet breakfast is served: scrambled eggs & hard boiled eggs, bread & rolls, small croissants, cold-cuts & cheese, butter & marmalade, juices & fresh fruits, cereals, milk & yoghurts, tea & coffee. Hotel Leonardo is a comfortable hotel. Recommended.

Das Hotel ist gut, Garten und Lage schön. Durch die Alleinlage hat man keine Alternativen, wenn man abends etwas länger zusammen sitzen und etwas trinken möchte, da die Bar bzw. das Restaurant schon früh, zwischen 21.30 und 23 Uhr am Samstag schließen. Für ein 4* Hotel ist das sehr ungewöhnlich. Auf dem Gang kann man sich in einem Getränkeautomaten versorgen, aber die Zimmer sind zum Aufhalten mangels Sitzgelegenheiten dann für mehr als 2 Personen zu klein. Das Essen im Restaurant ist recht gut, aber auch teuer.

Diese Hotelkette ist nichts für Familienurlaube. Es ist für Klassenfahrten, Städtetrips, Zwischenstopps von längeren Radtouren etc gut geeignet. Hier fehlt es schon am Einfachsten. Wir hatten zu viert ein Familienzimmer. Das Zimmer war max. 18m² groß. Es gab nur zwei Hocker und einen kleinen Tisch. Das Zimmer war viel zu klein für eine Familie mit zwei Kindern, auch wenn wir nur zum Schlafen dort waren. Frühstück von 7-10 Uhr - dann wurde das Buffet geschlossen. Keinerlei Komfort, hier wird an allem gespart, besonders bei der Reinigung der Zimmer. Länger als 3 Tage hält man es dort nicht aus. Im Bad gibt es keine Heizung. Sollte man einmal in den Regen kommen, gibt es hier auch keine Möglichkeit, die Kleidung/Schuhe zu trocknen. Die Lage des Hotels ist zum einen günstig in einem Gewerbegebiet (nebenan Supermarkt, Tankstelle und Getränkemarkt); zum anderen liegt es direkt am Bahnhof. Hier werden die halbe Nacht Güterzüge rangiert. Fazit: nie wieder.

I am a long-time member of Wyndham Rewards, and a frequent stayer at Ramada hotels all over the world. Usually, they are of a certain standard ... comfortable, clean and friendly. Sadly, this particular hotel lets the brand down in a dismal way. It's poorly equipped, overpriced (for the area) and very uncomfortable. There is virtually no bed base ... the mattress sits on the floor. The refrigerator does not work, and there are no coffee-making facilities in the room. When asked if we could swap for another room, we were told that every room is the same ... fridges don't work and mattresses on the floor. I'm sure the management will slip into denial and get defensive over my comments, but the facts speak for themselves. This is the worst Ramada I've ever stayed at. If this is typical of the German version of comfort, then take me back to the USA!
