Lovely and helpful staff, we were late check in’s; but they were able to help get us in quickly, and the chef was happy to accommodate 2 more meals for the evening! Adore how well they have kept the history of the building; the food and room was great value for money. Brekky could be improved.

Thats a first for me - got charged extra for asking for extra gravy after paying £19.95 for what was a lovely roast dinner! Shame on you Mortal Man!! Definitely wont be going back there! Staff were lovely and friendly great gardens so why let yourselves down by penny pinching over a jug of gravy!!

We stayed from 24th of April 2024 for 2 nights and couldn’t have had a nicer stay. From booking in Tommy at reception made it clear that if we needed anything then just ask and that he and the rest of the staff were there to make our stay as nice as possible and he was true to his word. We eat in both nights and the food was excellent and Collette who was on the bar made the experience a pleasure. The views from the beer garden and any other window in the hotel were breath taking. There is some scaffolding up whilst they make improvements to the hotel and from conversations with locals the last 12 months has seen massive improvements to the hotel since the new owners moved in. We will definitely be booking again sometime time this year and We are looking forward to it :)

Had been wanting to stay for years and what a fantastic place it is. Dog-friendly, brilliant staff and amazing food. Slept like logs through storm Kathleen. Breakfast area has view of Lakeland 100/Lakeland trails 100k route up to/from Garburn Pass. Would guess is mile and a half/two to Kentmere Horseshoe route…. Just check weather before!

Always brilliant... A great Lakes Pub. I took the barmans advice and went for the Game Pie which was simply outstanding. The staff are always so welcoming here and it's in a stunning location in the valley. It feels like a special place to visit time and time again. Be back soon.

We had a lovely two day break at the Mortal Man. The hotel is extremely clean, the room was slightly on the small side but was totally adequate for our break and made all the better by having a fabulous view. The staff were all very pleasant and hard working with a special mention for Tommy and Celeste who work in the bar and restaurant. The evening menu is limited but we had different meals on each night and they were very well presented and so tasty, much better than traditional pub fayre. We had a great time here and came away well relaxed. Thank you all for the hospitality and hopefully we will be back in future.

Popped in for lunch while we were staying nearby, we all had different things off the menu, all was really good. Really nice bar and restaurant area, fantastic views over the valley, friendly staff... We stayed a while had a few drinks, played a few games that they had, chess, draughts, darts, nice walk back, perfect rainy day afternoon.

Lovely Old Worlde place to stay with great staff and great food. Beatiful views from our room and very dog friendly. With a choice of walks into Ambleside which take approx. 1.5 hours each way, it's a perfect location. We will definately return.

If you are lucky enough to have both Tommy and Celeste on duty. You will have a blast. Both are absolute professionals and great fun too. These two work tirelessly to make your meal a memory, the food too is “Pub” but Good Pud, we have been three times this week and every time they were the same, we did try a pub close-by called the Queens Head but that is so up on itself I wouldn’t bother again, stupid prices for awful pub grub. But the Mortal man is one to go back to, excellent wine and proper ales too. Well done Tommy you made us laugh and so doggy friendly.🤣
