We booked more than 6 months in advance through *******. On arrival we were told there was building work taking place. We were not advised of this in advance by either the hotel or *******. Our room (which the hotel advised had been ‘upgraded’) was directly next to the building site where rooms were being demolished. We had no hot water on our first night so had to take cold showers after a day of travelling. There was no one on site to assist. Room was generally very tired, especially the bathroom. Restaurant food was good, particularly the breakfast and staff friendly. Overall we were really disappointed not to be informed in advance of building work. The hotel did offer to move us to an alternative room but this had already been prepared for another guest as the hotel was full and we didn’t feel this was fair. We moved after our first night.
