Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa

We stayed here to celebrate my birthday and we got a great deal with our suite. We loved having such a great space and waking up to special views. The rooms are always lovely and we have stayed here twice now and will definitely go again. We really liked our room so would probably ask for that one again. Service was great. They put a card in the room for my birthday which is a nice touch but a lot of other venues do extra things. I guess they get a lot of people celebrating here though. Beds are comfy. Suites spacious. Great to stay in the actual spa section if you have poor mobility as a trip in the elevator and you are straight in the spa. Really rated our stay. It was magical.

Stayed for a wedding. The scenery is beautiful, right opposite the Derwent lake, surrounded by lush greenery. The hotel, especially the spa, looks like a little pocket of luxury in the lush green hills. However, looks can be deceiving. As beautifully decorated as the hotel function rooms were. The rooms were a little dated in their style. Well kept and clean, just lots of dark wood and more what you'd expect for a high-end 90s hotel. We'd been tempted to upgrade from the basic room, but friends who did had the same feedback that the rooms were tiny! Bearly room to swing a mouse, let alone a cat. The toilet was crammed in between the wall and the bath, with the loo roll holder wedged in your arm pit every time you sat down. The iron in our room was broken, leaking water through the cable. It was taken away, and we were provided with another, as well as a fan, as the room was tropical level heat! With windows open and fan on, it was like stepping off a plane into a hot and humid country every time we went into the room. We had to have cold showers just to feel human. Couple that with a bed that moved around like you were on a boat every time you even so much as breathed! Possibly 2 of the worst nights sleep I've had. We also had items removed from our room. Nothing of great value, the hotel assured us that the cleaners in the room didn't see the items, but we searched every inch of the room and they were nowhere to be seen. The food was ok, nothing too shout about, but it was ok. It's largely just a bit bland. The Asian/Italian restaurant is nice, nice cocktails, food was ok and good value. Breakfast was a bit lack luster. I had some bacon that needed a service after the cremation it had and cold seems to be the only option for toast. The the granola yoghurt and pastries maid up for it. The spa does look fabulous, I didn't try it myself, but the other guests all had good things to say about it. It's a shame as the hotel looks great, but the rooms just really let it down.

We had a lovely stay for my husbands surprise birthday celebrations. The suite was large and decorated well however there are nesting birds in the eves which left quite a lot of droppings on the balcony furniture which stained our clothes. The spa is a real treat and 2 hours access each day is included with a junior suite booking. More electric chargers for cars are needed here as they seemed to only be for disabled badge holders outside of the hotel. Overall a beautiful place to visit, it just needs a little attention with value pricing, menu and maybe something from the hotel to mark the celebration (notified in advance of stay) other than the extra champagne I paid for to be in the room. (Birthday card from management or a small cake in the room or at dinner as an example) staff were courteous although they seemed a little too busy during service so hard to get their attention in the restaurant if condiments were needed etc.

Had a fantastic stay at the hotel which featured a very relaxing spa session and spectacular views from the pool. Will definitely be back.

Great hotel with spectacular scenery/setting. Attended a wedding and had a great 2 night stay. Spa was good, but struggled to find sun loungers around the pool to begin with.

If you're lucky and get a refurbed room and can book access at the Spa, it's a fabulous stay with amazingly good Asian restaurant and great location. We found the F&B pricing very reasonable, quality good and breakfast excellent too. However, the first room was terrible - threadbare and tiny double, carpets falling apart....once in a newly refurbished room it's more like their socials!

Booking issues – charged for dinner even though I specifically requested breakfast only. Slow response to the ne. Wasted time trying to sort out the request. Room not clean – not a premium experience. As per online feedback, the hotel is of a standard of a family run iness that's mis-positioned itself as a premium hotel. Cobweb in the balcony. Dirty mini bar with spilt tea/coffee. The foot rest was also dirty. Room not well maintained for the price – wall paper pealing off. Bits of paint pealed off from the desk lamps. Lift not working – bound in the room for the duration of the visit. Wasn't informed even though I specifically mentioned I'm booking the holiday for my elderly mother who struggled with her knees. A staff member told me that the lift had been broken for quite some time and likely won't be fixed anytime soon. This spoilt our whole holiday. other online reviews have also complained about the lifts. Lying to customers to say the lifts are available when they are not working just is a very dishonest and careless service. Dinner received late - due to being stuck in the room due to the lift now working, ordered the dinner room service via the phone. Was told it was too early and call about 30 mins before as it's not busy and the service is fast. The dinner arrived over almost an hour and a half later. A horrible service, kept my elderly mother waiting hungry, despite me trying to book earlier. Another guest's invoice received in the room before checking out – GDPR breach in handling personal data. This shows the carelessness of the staff at this hotel. The aircon was freezing cold – could not be adjusted from the room, eventually it was adjusted from the central control. On the positive note, the nature/location is amazing. And the hotel's garden, etc externally is maintained very well. Aside from the amazing views of the nature and a good breakfast service, everything else about this hotel was a horrible experience. A costly experience to be forgotten.

The room was old and tired and we were charged over £200 for the privilege. We were then charged a further £50 for dogs staying, which was ridiculous!
