My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. Whilst this is a guest house, it is in effect a ‘home stay’ with the owners and staff preparing fresh meals from their kitchen. We really felt very welcome and whilst we were away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy- we welcomed the peace and quiet and there was everything we needed. At breakfast and dinner you have a chance to speak with people from all over the world. We met a range of lovely people from Norway, Holland, Israel, India as well as from Britain. It was lovely to stay in a small hotel/guest house and experience home cooking. Wonderful, wonderful place to stay.

We stayed here for 1 night whilst touring Sri Lanka, this small haven up in the hills was so welcoming after a day on tour , it is family run and we were looked after so well . The homemade meals were excellent and the rooms were very spacious with everything a traveller needs , the staff could not do enough , we felt very much at home here , highly recommended for a much needed rest and comfort .

What a warm welcome. We had a great stay and next time need to stay longer. Nice rooms, clean and not too far from the center but very peaceful and quiet. Wonderful home made meals. We would highly recommend to book your stay at his wonderful guest house. Owners/hosts are the best to make you feel at home. 💜

Hanthana House was very difficult to find as it is tucked away but, once found, it was delightful - in a quiet location with comfortable rooms. The owners and their staff could not have been more helpful and all the meals we had were freshly produced and delicious.

Hanthana House is set in the most unique position with fabulous views. It was extremely luxurious and the home cooked food delicious. We were given the warmest welcome on arrival and the family went over and above to make our stay extremely comfortable. Exceptional hosts, the kindest family and staff. A very special atmosphere in a very special home. We definitely recommend staying here. Incredibly immaculate and comfortable rooms. We will treasure the memories of New Year 2024 for a lifetime.

Perfect accomondation with perfect view and total clean room with fast internet connection. We enjoyed well cooked dinner. 😊 Friendly staff. Trhy offer also transfer. Comunication is on high active level. Recommend.

First and foremost, the hospitality provided by the family that runs Hanthana House was great and they made my stay better. The family prepared a wonderful Sri Lankan dinner showcasing the flavors of the region. The fried rice, kottu roti, and dhal were a delight to the taste buds and the morning breakfast with requested fresh fruits was just enough. The rooms are clean and comfortable with tranquil setting away from the city’s hustle and bustle. Despite the exemplary hospitality, it is worth noting that the location of the property is quite far from the main attractions, making it challenging to explore the area on foot; you would need a tuk tuk or a taxi to get to the main town, which you would find difficult to flag one down due to the remote, higher location. If you value a peaceful retreat away from the city center and are willing to arrange transportation to visit Kandy's popular sites, Hanthana House will provide you with a comfortable stay. I personally did not book this accommodation as it was done by an agency with connections to the family. I would have chosen a hotel in the city’s center.

Very friendly owner. The room was spotless and we loved the bed with the mosquito net, even though there were no mosquitoes at the time. Only some hilarious and cheeky monkeys passing by the balcony. We also loved the food, homemade and super tasty. Highly recommended

A comfortable, spacious and immaculately clean homestay like experience! The hosts were so accommodating and even whipped up a tasty Sri Lankan dinner for us after a late arrival without fuss! The room was huge (I think a family room) with two double beds, lovely hot shower and comfortable beds. Loved the sunrise from the balcony over the jungle in the morning, listening to the birds it was very relaxing. Meals were homemade, no menu but just asked what do you want! Really tasty healthy and home cooked meals. Even our fussy eater daughter ate it all! Price was great, hosts super friendly and a wonderful family. If you want that friendly home feel away from the bustling tourists.. this is it. Highly recommend!
