Hillcrest Villa

The hotel is in an old villa, nice colonial building with a small garden and a swimming pool about 10m long. It is uphill and far from the city, an impossible location if you haven’t a car, with no bar or restaurant around. The rooms are nice and large and so is the bathroom, but no other facility is offered: empty fridge, no tea/coffee (luckily some water), no bath foam or shampoo, just a microscopic soap hardly suitable to wash you.r hands, let alone have a shower. No towel for the swimming pool. There are two people in the staff, one knows no English, the other better but she only comes for emergencies. Wifi did not work and it took a while to be understood and finally somebody came from outside to fix it. The day after the electricity had gone in my room and again I had to look for somebody. The room is not cleaned if you stay more nights. Breakfast is served at the table (the buffet must work in high season), there was juice, omelette, fruit and bread with jam, tea was so black that I couldn’t drink it.

A lovely bungalow, beautifully furnished with a large, clean and airy bedroom. A special thank you to Pilimathalawa (named after his home town!) who made me feel very much at home. Thank you also to the cook lady who rustled up a delicious lunch for me within a short time of my arrival. One 'negative' factor was that I did not receive a bill for my payment! However since the amount was close to what we had discussed over the phone, I did not make an issue of it. Except for this, I would recommend the place without reservation.

I will never forget the Food and the service received by the staff. I would recommend for groups families who really wants to have treat for them selves. There was a guy Pilimathalawe!! He is the coolest!!! The best private visit and FOOD!!! Hotel service team - You are the best!!!

One of the best homestays in Kandy overlooking stunning mountains. The owner was a nice gentleman and he offered me a late checkout until 8.30 PM. The breakfast was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again.
