It has some genuinely charming touches and a great view, but its location and certain amenities require some adjustment. Location & Transportation: The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the Hualien Train Station, which is fantastic if you're arriving by rail. However, I soon realized that the train station is not the city center. The main downtown area is a significant distance away—about a 40-minute walk. This means you'll either need to plan for long walks or rely on taxis and buses to get to the main dining and night market areas. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's something to be aware of. The Room: The room itself was a highlight. It was spacious and comfortable, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring. The best feature was the large window that faced the train station, with a stunning backdrop of the mountains. It was incredibly scenic and made the room feel bright and open. While the room was comfortable, I did notice that the overall design and some of the furniture felt a bit dated. It's clean and functional, but don't expect a super modern aesthetic. Amenities & Service: This is where the experience was a bit uneven. The gym was quite disappointing. It only had a stationary bicycle and a treadmill. There were no weights, no multi-gym, nothing for anyone hoping for even a basic strength workout. It felt more like an afterthought than a proper facility. On the other hand, the service had some truly thoughtful highlights. When we asked for ice, the hotel staff kindly delivered some to our room, which was a nice touch. The Special Touch: The most memorable part of the stay was a small, heartwarming gesture. The hotel provided us with complimentary postcards. The unique part? They offered to mail them for us, but not right away. They will send them exactly one year later. It's a lovely idea—a little time capsule from your trip that arrives as a surprise in the future. Overall: Hotelday Hualien offers spacious, comfortable rooms with beautiful mountain views, and its proximity to the train station is a plus for travelers. The thoughtful service, like the ice delivery and the ”postcard to your future self” program, adds a warm, personal touch. However, the distance from the city center and the very basic gym are drawbacks. It's a solid choice for a comfortable night's sleep near the station, especially if you appreciate sentimental gestures, but be prepared for the travel time to the main attractions.

While its location is slightly removed from the bustling city center, making a car a definite advantage, this remoteness translates to a wonderfully quiet and relaxing stay. The hotel may not boast an extensive array of facilities, but what it lacks in amenities, it more than compensates for with its outstanding service. The staff are incredibly attentive, warm, and go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. Their dedication to guest satisfaction is truly commendable, making you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and offer a serene environment, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the beautiful Hualien region. The quiet surroundings guarantee a restful night's sleep, away from the noise and distractions of the city. If you're seeking a peaceful retreat and prioritize exceptional service over extensive on-site facilities, Lakeshore Hotel Hualien is an excellent choice. The quiet, picturesque location, coupled with the staff's unwavering commitment to guest comfort, makes it a worthwhile stay, especially for those with their own transportation. While you'll need to drive to access nearby attractions and dining, the hotel's tranquil ambiance and remarkable service create a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Overall a good experience (except one thing - see in the bottom). The location is somewhat central and on the walking promenade, but not very close to the railway station or the waterfront. About 25-35 min walk to the railway station but still okay. About 15 min to the waterfront. Food options: there are a couple of local restaurants right near across from the promenade, including a noodle shop, a tempura donburi and a fried seafood place - all along the promenade. There's also a PX Mart not too far away, about 5 min walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, very new renovation (as of 2025, seems like 2023-2024), no fridge in the room (on the first floor only), but there's a kettle. The bed was somewhat stiff but okay. Overall felt like great value for the location and the quality, and especially the room size. The only drawback - Easy to fix - was the towels. There was no proper size bathroom towels on my stay in May 2025. The small towels are rather insuficcient for showering.
