Recently been touring the Holy Land and stayed in this very ordinary hotel. The party were there for 4 nights while in Jerusalem. The rooms are ordinary but we’re tired and needed some TLC. The breakfast and dinner buffets were good and offered a fair variety to meet ordinary needs bu5 it did not sparkle. The internet was reasonable and did the business. In the basement was a group of shops. I used the coffee house as the hotel coffee was nothing special. The hotel was noisy as it seemed full with runners for the Marathon as well as other touring groups. Staff were mixed. Some were very helpful, others seemed to treat guests as nuisance. They should work on there welcome. Yes the hotel is ordinary in need of a make over if it wants to improve its reputation.
It was the second time we stayed at the hotel. It is a little oasis in the heart of Jerusalem with a lot of history. The staff are attentive and very helpful. It is a special place. Can highly recommend.
I loved staying here. Fabulous location and the staff are so helpful. The market is across the road (and so are lots of other fab shops), but with my apartment overlooking the back lane, I had total privacy and quiet, which I loved. And I had a BATHTUB! Big deal for me and one I made use of! And the kitchen allows you to eat in when you want - Shabbat included. I am going back at the end of my Israel visit - which I guess is the best recommendation possible. Suggestions for improvement are very few: 1) Supply a bathplug. Saves me buying one. 2) Get the stains off the bathtubs - they look dirty but are not and I know because I scrubbed them!) 3) Jerusalem is cooler than the rest of Israel so I would really love a fan so I don't have to use aircon (cheaper for you - but I know it's not for everyone). And 4) icecube tray in freezer.
Once again the David Citadel lived up to all expectations from the comfort of the rooms, the graciousness and courteousness, to the food and the ambiance. A special shout out to Manuel Arbid who continues to be an outstanding director of guest relations. He takes care of each hotel guest as they are personal friends and for some as family.
ผผู้เข้าพักI really wanted to like this place after reading all the great reviews here but came away with slightly mixed feelings. On the plus side, it is a beautiful old building, and the location is fabulous, just a few minutes walk from the Damascus Gate (the entry into the most interesting part of the old city) and the nearby light rail stop. My room felt a bit tired and in need of an upgrade though - a decent coffee machine and real cups rather than disposable ones would be a good start. Staff were pleasant enough but didn't go out of their way to be helpful. There's a nice airy restaurant on the ground floor, but in a country with such fabulous food pretty much everywhere you go, I thought the breakfast left a lot to be desired, and for that reason I didn't attempt any other meals here. I was travelling alone and for a place to lay my head at night, it was perfectly fine and a reasonable price, but it wasn't a place that I wanted to linger in. If I were back in Jerusalem with my family I'd forego the atmosphere and look for something a bit more modern.
ผผู้เข้าพักO my God... where do I begin?... The hospitality & love the staff shows is apart from anything I've experienced in Jerusalem! It is the.most moderately priced hotel (yay for that!), but the breakfast you get is nutritious & vast enough, the mint teas or coffees you can pour yourself throughout the day are a very special touch, and if you need a pick-me up lunch or dinner they make that available to you, too, with no hassle just love, and it's delicious! They renovated the 3rd floor, which is really special with marble floors, a big TV screens and very nice rooms! Lower floors are less expensive & modest, but they're all you need when you're on a pilgrammage, and was perfect for me! Also... this is the clincher: you begin the Walk of Jesus from this very point to the Garden of Gethsemane along Palm Sunday Road, then through Lion's Gate and Via Dolorosa to the very, very Church of the Holy Sepulchre! And this, you must walk for the full experience or you're seriously short-changing yourself! - Which means, you should be based at this hotel! The best upscale & quaint restaurant & cafe is right beside the Hotel and everyone says they ate the ery best shewarma of their lives here! Also... another clincher: the Mount of Olives Hotel is right beside the Ascension rock from whence Jesus ascended! A must visit! Orthodox churches & monasteries are all around the Hotel so again, a perfect choice for Orthodox Christians, and remember, you can walk to Old Town Jerusalem from here or take a local bus! And you have the best wide angle view of Jerusalem from the Lookout Point, overlooking the Dome of the Rock & the Golden Gate! And on a personal note: someone stole my iPhone from the OldCity, so I had to ask staffers umpteen times to use their mobile phones for whatsapp communications with my security advisor, and they were always obliging, understanding patient & compassionate! They just have a whole lotta' love! I will never forget them, and will base my future groups here! They got My Vote! Best & God Bless! xo~A Angelina of Jerusalem
