This is my second visit here which speaks for itself I guess. I spent five days here over the Christmas holidays when the place was very quiet, which suited me...but is probably not ideal for a standard review. It is however perfectly situated, central without the noise and minutes away for food shopping. There are plenty of toilet/shower areas and two reasonable size kitchens with a nice outdoor balcony to relax on. The only slight draw back for me are the dorms are somewhat ”cosy”, and the kitchen is not the best stocked in the world. Other than that it's a good place to be...and Steph and the team do a good job of keeping the place ship shape. Recommended
We stayed here two separete nights. We booked in advance and we were nervous to book the same hostel in case we didn't like it, but fortunately we did and it didn't dissapoint at all. The recepcionist was nice and welcoming to us, everything is clean, it has several kitchens and the common room is like a huge family room with sofa, covers, TV and board games all super cozy which is the perfect enviroment to NOT have a heart attack when you find out that the borders where you are connecting home are all closed and probably you'll have to stay in NZ forever (not a bad thing tho, but I was pretty poor at that point, lol). Anyway, the people is nice, the dorm room has its own bathroom inside which is a massive YES! The lockers are huge plus there are tiny lockers with outlets inside to put your devices (genious). The bunks are hardly bunks because they are pretty solid wood-made so even if your bunkmate moves a lot you won't notice. It has a courtine which is awesome for privacy, its own night light and outlets by your bed. Maybe the only downside is that the parking lot is really (really) tiny, which makes it very difficult to maneuver, specially when you have never driven in the left before, jaja. Other than that, awesome stay, if I ever go back to Queenstown, definetely would stay here again! :)
Hostel is clean and there’s a privacy curtain on each bunk. There are activities planned most nights and the TV room has Netflix and Disney Plus. The hostel has good security - just bring your own padlock for the lockers. Only gripe - the staff are generally unfriendly. Just expect British service 🤣
Wow. Wow. Wow. I felt like a queen! This house has the most perfect view of Queenstown and the lake and i was in the incredible room with a bay window and HUGE bathroom. It was heavenly! I love boutique hotels but this was a few levels up! The food was delicious and breakfast choices were always new and fresh. I have a bad stomach and new zelanad food is so clean i could eat everything they served - through out all of new zealand too! c’mon beer and pizza! ha! back on topic - Hulbert houseis a fantastic and memorable place to stay! have them help you with tours and the outrageous spa where you take a hot bath with treats while seemingly hanging off the side of a steep mountain! I’ll never forget that either! Hulbert house - the room with the bay window overlooking queenstown is Honeymoon worthy! ha!
MMehwish ANice motel. Great views of the Lake and Remarkables from our room on the ground floor. Late check in was well-organised even without a reception in attendance. The room was well equipped with a mini kitchen (including a stove) and our issues were promptly handled by the reception/manager. Two drawbacks in the room: no safe and no telephone. Morgan (manager) was kind to help us out with keeping our valuables safe with her. On the latter, one had to run to the reception or call the reception during office hours through personal phones which I found a bit odd. On Day 1, we found our shower drain blocked but that was handled by Morgan the same day. By the time we were leaving, the drain was blocking again so hope the room service team will clear it for the next occupancy. We were confused with the room service provisioning though - some days we would receive a full service, some days basic - which is fine with us but a bit more communication would have been helpful. There is a self serve laundry which only takes coins so you’d need to have cash on hand that the reception will gladly barter for coins. The location is good, closer to the town centre and with a view. Public transport is also accessible. For people with physical limitations (which are rare QT visitors unlike us), the location is a bit challenging. All in all, a good place to stay in QT.
FFoodTravelLifeStaying at Blue Peak Apartments in Queenstown was a blast! The three-bedroom setup was just what we needed – enough space for everyone to spread out without stepping on each other's toes. Let's talk about the real game-changers: having a washing machine and dryer in the apartment was a godsend. No more lugging around a suitcase full of dirty laundry – major win! And that kitchen, complete with an oven, made whipping up meals a breeze. It felt like we brought our own little chef's paradise to Queenstown. Being close to the town center was a huge plus too. Park the car and take a leisurely stroll – that's my kind of vacation vibe. Blue Peak Apartments, you made our stay comfy and convenient.
We stayed for a night here (after 3 days' stay in another hotel nearby) during Christmas/ New Year peak season when hotel rooms in Queenstown are so demanding and we were nearly unable to book a room. So when we noticed vacancy at this lodge, we were so delighted and booked without hesitation. One needs to walk a bit uphill from the city centre for 15 mins. I find the location fine though. There is a bus stop just in the opposite side of the road where we got a public bus to the airport (15-20 mins ride). Our rooms are not facing the lake but right next to the road. We were satisfied as the rooms were clean functional and very spacious. For eating, seems there are no restaurants nearby although one may go to the hotels around for meals or otherwise make own meals with the microwave or toaster in the room.
If you don’t want a welcome, electricity, heating then this is the place to be! We arrived at about 17:15 and the reception was closed and opened up the next day at 09:30. Everything fine, we took the keys from the post box. The room was ice cold and we put the heating on. The heating just made noises all night and didn’t give any heat. There was a phone number available, but only for emergencies, if it wasn’t an emergency then the owner would charge you 50$. As we didn’t know if having no heating (which you would expect at a motel) was an emergency or not, we decided to sleep in the cold. The next day we told him about it and he gave us an electric heater. I also asked if he could change the full bins from their previous guests. The next evening the electricity was out. It took about an hour for it to be back… The room itself is outdated as the heating doesn’t work and there are scratches and stains on the walls and carpets. The cleanliness is ok. For the ‘show’ it seems clean, but whatever you do, do not look under the beds or behind cabinets! The location is good, it’s a 7 minute walk to the centre, but in all honesty you could probably find a better motel with a warm welcome and stuff that works.
ผผู้เข้าพักThe motel advised that due to the presence of scaffolding, the view from the windows is obscured. That's a minor problem and not really a problem. What the motel did not make any mention of when both booking and checking in, was the fact that major renovations are taking place. This meant that at one point during my stay I returnwd to my room during the day hoping to relax, but discovered that all tne furniture and my belongings had been moved so that drilling, plastering and painting could be carried out. Had I not requested a new room, they would have expected me to sleep in the room with wet plaster or paint. Furthemore, the electric door lock kept failing, leaving me locked out of my room on multiple occasions. The customer service is awful and the planning of major work when guests are staying is thoughtless. The noise of tools and workers is very disruptive.
