lovely comfortable hotel with a fabulous dinner! The staff especially the owner/manager were extremely welcoming and professional. We stayed 3 nights and ate in every night because the food was just so good! It was a set menu with an option and every night was faultless. Our small cottage was well furnished and very comfortable with a huge bathroom. Across the road is a lovely restaurant for lunch etc (and an elephant sanctuary, we didn't go to that) (my only gripe was I left some postcards to be posted ( all with stamps already on) and the staff member said it would be no problem, however none ever arrived at their destination- obviously this could have been the postal system.)

We had high expectations of this Country Lodge, however it wasnt quite as expected. The staff are great, the place was lovely BUT it was too dark for us. The first room we had was quite cold and the heating section of the aircon wasnt working, But when we told them, we were immediately moved to another room which was much better. The food was good and they have a bar to use for pre dinner drinks. The nice touch for us was that they put us in a wine tasting room for dinner on one night when we were the only guests. After the second day, we had to ask them to change the background music which was far too modern and made us feel we were in an Ibiza night club! It was changed straight away and was fine from then on. However we shouldn't have had to ask and their choice of music wasn't reflective of the surroundings. Maybe that will now change.

Wow, wow, wow. What an amazing place. From the moment we arrived it felt like such a special place. The lodge itself is beautiful however the team that run it make the difference making it a friendly relaxed environment. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really care without any agenda. Eddie has to get a special mention for being a wonderful host. The food has to get a comment, being delicious and important to note that they even do a youngsters menu every day more in line with their taste buds. We would certainly recommend it to anyone passing through Plett.

Lairds Lodge never fails to impress, from the rooms to the incredible staff and the most amazing food. This was our third visit and we love it and it seems to get better every time we visit. We will certainly be back and happily recommend the lodge to anyone visiting the area.

We stayed in seven hotels in South Africa during February and Laird's Lodge proved to be the best experience. The accommodation was on the ground floor and comfortable like a studio apartment and the main farmhouse has all the attractions of Colonial South Africa. The staff are well organised and prepare fine dining accompanied by a stylish wine list. The lodge is surrounded by attractive gardens and has two swimming pools. The location is off the main highway adjacent to a Riding school and also a few miles outside Plettenberg so quieter and more exclusive for the global traveller. In fact my agent recommended another hotel but because of the architecture we chose Lairds Lodge.

Hotel was recommended to us. Wonderful room which was clean & spacious. Staff were attentive & helpful. Food was wonderful. Felt very comfortable staying at Lairds Lodge. Superb gardens - good sized pool. Plenty of parking. Very quiet - good nights sleep. Great location - 8km Plettenburg Bay & 20km Knysna. Harkerville Saturday market worth a visit - just down the N2.

Lovely characterful property. Great location. Very enjoyable stay. Friendly helpful staff. Terrific food. Cooking to an exceptional standard at very reasonable prices. Boiled eggs cooked exactly as requested! Very nice pool and outside seating area to enjoy delicious Cape Fynbos G&T! Knysna elephant park immediately opposite the property access road (come this way rather than via Plettenberg Bay’s Airport Road)

Lairds Lodge Country Estate should not be confused with Lairds Lodge in Plettenberg. We had two wonderful nights at Lairds Lodge Country Estate, which is located about 10km from centre of Plettenberg Bay close to the Elephant Park. The lodge has wonderful feel of walking into someone’s home as invited guests and the staff are well trained in delighting their customers, which is a credit to Liz as one of the co-owners of the business. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable with little welcome treats awaiting for new guests. There are two swimming pools which are welcome treats on hot days. The bar is well stocked with local and international drinks. Breakfast is a good start of the day with choice of hot or continental served by cheerful staff. Whilst dinner menu is changed daily by long standing chef, Bee Bee and the menu is limited in choice, the cooking and presentation of dishes are a joy to eat. We’re happy to recommend Lairds Lodge Country Estate as one of your stays along the Garden Route.

Dinner at Lairds is a MUST. We have been staying at Lairds for many years now. The property has been like our home. The Staff the food are the best we have experienced anywhere. The owners work tirelessly to see that their guests are happy. It’s a very very smart hotel and yet very comfortable. What more could you want.
