25Hours Hotel Hamburg Altes Hafenamt

I very much enjoyed my stay at 25hours Hotel Altes Hafenamt. It was only a 1-night stay (they were fully booked the night after), but I would be very happy to return. The location is great, in the cool HafenCity, and central - I am InterRail-ing and walked to and from the main station and all my sightseeing. As others have described on here, they have so many details interior-wise that contribute to the a**osphere and experience (you should experience it, so I won’t disclose all the surprises). I loved my room (the floor plan is not particularly efficient, but it was very nice, and had a cool feel about it). The bed was very comfy, and just what I needed after a long journey. They don’t have a gym, but have a cooperation with a very nice gym next door, which one can visit for 8EUR/day. I appreciate Nils at front desk organizing that for me in a very welcoming manner even before I arrived. I did not opt for breakfast, but had dinner in their restaurant Neni. Also Neni has a cool feel to it, and service was good - but I wasn’t as excited about Neni as I was about the restaurant named Heimat next-door. Also not a big issue, but on my day of departure, housekeeping was a bit too insistant on trying to enter the room before my check-out. All in all, a very nice stay, and I would be more than happy to return soon. Also, apologies for bothering you with a forgotten item in my room, but I guess it means I have to return via Hamburg also :-)

I chose the hotel based on a recommendation from a friend. The room was large and modern, but as I turned on the shower, I had phone call and suddenly I see water flowing out from the bathroom and into the bedroom where my clothes for a business function was layed out. Things like this can happen but it was a very unfavorable situation as I was in a rush. I just had to put back on the clothes I was travelling in and leave for the function. As I left for the evening I told the receptionist that I expect that my belongings are moved to another room l which would be ready for me upon my return. The receptionist confirmed and apologized. When I returned that night the room had not been changed, but the housekeeping had sort of dried up the carpet to the best of their ability. On checking out the next morning i was quite frustrated and said I would expect not to pay (fully) for the night, as the hotel’s plumbing issues impacted my night negatively, and the hotel did not even bother to change my room even though having agreed to it on the spot. I did not pay as I left, but after a couple of hours i received an e-mail from the hotel saying they charged my card in full and they have no recollection that they promised to change my room, nor could they find any evidence of any flooding. Being mistreated and indirectly accused of lying, this will be the last stay at 25hrs.

Exellent hotel, perfect match. HafenCity, perfekt service, good breakfast with delicious coffee! The staff was amazing, friendly helpful and courteous. Ancient building , well designed interior and really good and comfortable. Great experience! we will come back

We were only there for one night, wish it was more! The hotel is clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly! Helped us book a night cruise and called a taxi for us in the morning. Great location for us as we wanted the night cruise and had booked a time for Miniature Wonderland in the morning.

I had some bad experiences during my stay at this hotel: The Wi-Fi signal was very poor in my room. I notified the desk and they promised to check but nothing has changed afterwards. The safe in the room was not working. The desk said they knew the problem but didn't offer any alternative solution to me. I had to carry all my valuable things with me all the time. There was a cooking oil smell in my room on the 2nd floor because of the restaurant on the basement floor. The breakfast was okay.

If you appreciate your sleep, skip this hotel. It seems the rooms near or above the restaurant and bar suffer from the loud noise (music) played in the restaurant. I had the room 110 - which should not be used as a guest room at all. It is right next to the kitchen and they try to replace they restaurant noice with artificial wave noise from 7 a.m. to midnight. Even that noise is not relaxing continuous noise, but it goes up and down. And the noise from the kitchen starts already before 6:30 am. Many people had praised the breakfast but at least for a vegetarian the choices were very limited and not living up to the positive feedback. (And the music blasts also during breakfast!) I have given a more detailed feedback about my personal experiences directly to the hotel management (in writing), but hope this general info helps others.

We could not have been happier, my sporty son was chuffed to gain access to the adjacent gym and I enjoyed the Schmökerstube and Bar!

This was my third stay here and every single one was perfect, no complains at all! Great reception, room and breakfast. Just a couple steps away from the speicherstadt and easy access to public transport in any direction.

So cool hotel in an old building surrounded by only new cool buildings. Had a quiet and beautifully decorated room overlooking the garden - a garantie for a good night’s sleep. Nice bar and efficient and attentative staff. I especially liked the humour in the furnishing and decorating of the whole hotel. Beautiful and witty! We’ll come again.
