Absolutely fantastic hotel about a 10/15 minute walk from The Hague Central Station, paid a bit extra for room with a Parliament View and it was worth it to be looking out overlooking the lake and old Binnenhof buildings! Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel and for the entire stay. Room was large with a very comfortable bed and extra couch. There was a (practically) full kitchen in the room too - with all the glasses, cups, plates, bowls, etc you might need - but we didnt really need to use it as we mostly ate out. Very good wi-fi in the room and a decent selection of English TV channels too. The continental breakfast was delicious and they changed the selection each day, it was nice that you could eat your food in the main hall or in some of the period side rooms. Very close to the historic city centre and plenty of places to eat near by. Would highly recommend.
It's a very nice hotel, located in the center of the city. Beautiful design, the rooms are pleasant. The breakfast is good. Those who come with a car are advised not to park in the parking lot below the hotel, because it is expensive. We camped in a parking lot within walking distance (of course after dropping off our luggage at the hotel) on Geest Street 1. We had a less pleasant experience, our daughter felt sick, and they had no idea where to refer us and we were even sent to the emergency which turned out to have been closed for 3 years. So only health, and enjoy.
This modern hotel has a split personality. Some elements rate 5 star some 0 or minus. My wife and I stayed for three nights in their only disabled access room in June, it costs about 200 euros per night excluding breakfast. We were delayed arriving so didn't check in until around 2300. Check in staff were very good and we went up to our room. It had been made up (maybe?) but not cleaned! Excretia in the toilet bowl, bits of second hand toothpaste in the sink (which was blocked up). Complained to the night porter who came up to the room just after midnight as was genuinely embarrassed. But, the hotel was full and this was the only accessable room in the hotel! The room was given a quick clean to get us through the night. The following morning met by the very good manager who again apologised cancelled the nights charge from the bill (we paid in advanced) and said he would rectify the situation. He (Jimmy) was ashamed and seemed quite frankly shocked. We went out for the day and came back to a very clean room. On our 2nd and final full day the room was not made up at all, beds not made, no towels no toilet roll coffee etc. Again complained to the two very nice young women on reception who were very nice and very apologetic. It was our last night and were given a free (and very good breakfast). Serving manager and staff could not have been more helpful. So, great location, really great staff, great breakfast, awful, awful housekeeping (apparently sub contracted out). Should you stay in the Mercure Den Hague? You choose! Incidently, I said I was going to put a review out and Jimmy the manager said ” You must be truthful”.
The price for the room had been more then 300 Euro ! Of course without parking ( 30 Euros ) No more comments

While making a booking my wife asked the receptionist what time was the breakfast. The receptionist told us to pay first and then she will tell about the breakfast. Knowing the timings of the breakfast we wanted to book. We would not book the breakfast if it was too late. So we did not have an option. Once we booked the breakfast we went to the hotel room and we went to the receptionist to cancel the breakfast booking. The receptionist told her to come next day. We got the manager the next day and she could not cancel the breakfast. she used an excuse like we have to order food etc etc. But we tried to cancel it the same very day. So we could not cancel the breakfast. This is ridiculous. The hotel is messed up. once we pay for the breakfast that means we dont have an option to cancel it . the same day. We cancelled our appointment and went for the breakfast.
ผผู้เข้าพักI love Novotel as a chain, and have stayed at this hotel before and was quite happy. This time I felt things were a little off and I wasn't as satisfied. I seem to recall getting a free bottle of water in the room, which it appears is not included anymore. No more individual shower gels and soaps, but now big pumps of soap, which is OK if you have the complete set of them. Yes, it's more environmentally friendly but it's also a sign of cost-cutting. Breakfast was more or less the same -- good choice and quality -- except on a busy weekend they seemed totally overwhelmed and people had to queue to get a table. On a quieter morning, I noticed a sign stating one can request omelettes and poached eggs from the kitchen, so I did, and this dish never materialized, which was a little awkward. The fresh orange juice machine is awful: constant noise and queues of people taking ages to each make one glass of juice, as it requires that the user slice the orange and then ram each half, one at a time, into the machine, yielding a tiny amount of juice. Repeat for 6 or 7 oranges to get a glass... It would be funny to watch as slapstick if it weren't so annoying to listen to. On the positive side, the rooms are still attractive, comfortable, and quiet.

ผผู้เข้าพักIt took me a while to write this review since I was afraid of my personal safety. Nevertheless, I have finally decided to share this information with other travelers. This incident happened during a weekday night when I decided to do a walk-in at the Ibis hotel in Den Haag after a long trip. I was already aware of some bad reviews from other travelers indicating ”naughty” staff. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a go. I entered the hotel and mentioned the hotel clerk that I wanted to book a room. His attitude was rough indicating me that he did not have any rooms left. For my bad luck, my phone was out of battery so I decided to seat in one of the tables in the lobby to quickly charge it to look for a hotel somewhere else. While I was charging my phone, the clerk approached me and shouted at me that I had to leave the hotel. I explained him that I wanted to charge my phone to look for other hotels in the area and I wouldn't take much time. He continued shouting at me that I had to leave, when suddenly he grabbed my bag and literally threw it to the street. At this moment I was petrified since I never imagined something like this was happening. Then, he pushed me violently out of the hotel. Luckily I managed to take a picture of this guy. The guy has a tattoo on his right arm and rather than a hotel clerk, he thinks he is a MMA fighter or part of gang. I really don't know how the manager of this hotel can have person like this with such level of anger dealing with customers. My review by no means intend to advice other travelers to visit or not this hotel. I believe the facilities of this hotel are quite nice but what I can say is that I'm not entering this place again until they take strong actions towards improving the quality of their staff. I hope this guy doesn't get fired because of this review but if the hotel really wants to keep him, the hotel should consider send him to an anger management course. I don't know if this guy is always like this or just had a bad night and he took it on me. Nonetheless, I think no one should suffered what this guy did to me under any circumstance.
Stayed with our family of four, inc two young ones (6, 2). Unit was newly furnished and well laid out, providing clear separation between beds in a loft-style format. Kitchen had everything you need to prepare basic meals. Largely self service but there is a front desk service during normal business hours M-Sat. Great location on Kaizerstraat with a 3min walk to the beach. Everything you need is nearby - Albert Heijn supermarket, tram/bus, and lots of shops/restaurants. Few local family friendly standouts: Stormerij laundry service, Arawann Thai, Chiva coffee, Studio, Hart Beach restaurant, Patagonia Beach restaurant, Sealife aquarium and Stadsborderij ‘t Waaygat petting zoo / playground.
Would not recommend, especially if you are bringing any personal or expensive belongings. My bicycle was stolen from the hotel, it was the only place I was allowed to keep it due to it being a “fire risk”. The hotel has since claimed they are not liable and subsequently will not put anything in writing. They don’t have CCTV footage, when the bike was stolen they did not even get up to see what had happened. It’s been 5 days and they are still putting bikes in this area despite it being unsuitable. I was assured my bike would not be stolen by an employee. I have done a lot of travelling around the world and this is the most poorly run hotel I have stayed in. They do not have a clue what they are doing.
I like the size of the room that has ample space to open a big suitcase on the floor. The bathroom is also nicely heated, and the shower strong and nice. Location was great and safe and easy reach by tram. My son and I even walked to the scheveningen beach from the hotel. Just one note on the rooms : you can hear footsteps from the room above yours.
