Super 8 by Wyndham Athens

We have stayed here multiple times and this is the first time we were disappointed. When we checked in the rooms hadn’t been cleaned so we had to switch rooms, then the condition of the rooms was less than desirable, outlets loose, paint peeling, ceiling cracked….Front desk workers were friendly and apologetic but it was just a total disappointment since we have stayed here before.

When I entered the room, it smelled strange and it was dusty. There was a stink bug. When I woke up the next morning, my throat was swollen and swollen and hurt. The blanket was thin and cold. The faucet in the bathroom was broken beautifully, and it was difficult to use because only hot water came out from the shower head. I left my iPad charger in the room, but I haven't heard anything.

Ok. If you are just passing through and need a place to sleep for the night or two.

No breakfast other than muffins and coffee. The property has a strange odor.

There was supposed to be breakfast but there were just granola bars. Everything else was fine.

Breakfast was horrendous and there were no coffee makers in the room. Had to request a second room as the pedestal on the TV was completely broken in the first one. Pillows were great but the beds were the hardest I've ever slept in. Shower spigot was broken and loose. Highly doubt that I'd stay there again, ever. ☹

We had a 1 night stay. Everything in this hotel was crisp and clean. The staff was friendly. Very quiet stay. We travel this route quite often and we will be staying here again. (The only con was that there is road construction going on, and the entrance road to get to the hotel was hard to see , as it was in the evening, and there were no entrance markings that were visible. )

Athens Super 8 is a no frills, good value option when I visit my son at Ohio University. I've paid more at other hotels, but no need to when Super 8 is clean and safe. This is a good place to cut costs.

The staff was very friendly. The building is old and needs updating and repairs. Room had an odor of old urine. They are trying to update it but it needs more work.
