M Hotel

Overall ok. Staff is very nice except for the one receptionist at check in, she was not pleasant and not very welcoming. Hardly did eye contact, barely welcomed us and clearly didn’t want to be there. Well situated hotel, clean, nice bar, nice restaurant.

We made a booking for the Eburon Hotel and we specified that we wanted a king bed. When we arrived there on Saturday afternoon, we saw that the room they gave us only had two single beds which were quite small. When we told the reception that we were given the wrong room, the receptionist told us that they had made a mistake and that all rooms with king beds had already been checked in. She didn't offer any alternatives. We asked to speak with the manager who also had no alternatives to offer. My husband then asked if they had any other hotel from the same group nearby where they could get us a double bed and if was only then that they went and looked for one. They sent us to the M Hotel in Genk, which was half and hour from Tongeren, which meant we had to change our holiday plans. When we arrived at the room at the M Hotel, we realised, to our dismay, that they did not have a king bed but instead two single beds with a double (thin) mattress on top. During the night the beds came apart forming a hole in the middle and both my husband and I woke up with sore backs. The positive things about the M Hotel was the staff, who were very friendly and empathetic (contrasting with the Eburon) and the nice breakfast which, in the end, they offered to us as a good gesture (together with a bottle of bubbles) after we explained about our very bad night sleep. It is incredible that a 4 start hotel cannot provide a proper king bed!

At check in, staff upgraded the room (and so payment) without any explanation and only told when asked why I am paying higher price, anyhow I paid with no problem. Room cleaning service never happened for 3 nights although sign displayed. The only good point of breakfast is the lake view, otherwise it's not worth the money. At checkout, there was extra money to be paid and when asked what is that, I was told sorry it was added by other staff and deleted now. I suppose I would have paid that extra €138 if not asked for explanation! Asked to get invoice for the payment and advised to be emailed the same but never happened Overall, I definitely won't come nearby again

Always use the M hotel on a yearly trip to Genk. As usual the staff were very friendly and an easy book in experience. The twin room was spacious and clean and the beds comfortable (One will need a new mattress soon though as it is beginning to collapse) Breakfast was enjoyable and plenty of choice. Parking is convenient and plentiful and the hotel location is very convenient. Look forward to a return.

It’s amazing here.the food is very very good,the staff is very nice.The rooms are perfect.definitely recommend! I would love to come here again. Especially Tom and Joppe took really good care of us 👍 and the view is really amazing!I just love it here ❤️

Very nice room, remodeled and modern; the hotel is nicely situated by a lake. The cleanliness of the room however is not the best (hair on bed, tissue under bed, overall dusty and not va gummed), and the restaurant of the hotel is not great (pricey food and terrible salads).

We had a bad sleeping at M Hotel: the bed was a spring bed with a topper, the sheets were just put on the topper and during the night they slipped away with the night movements, meaning that we were in contact with the mattres; the pillows quite unuseful, without consistency; one of the windows was broken and we couldn’t closed it during the night, luckily it was not that cold but there was some noises coming easier inside. The overall interior design of the room is quite insignificant and a little bit dated, with old part (probably form the first version of the hotel) next to some modern lamp and wall paper that honestly doesn’t match at all. The bathroom was perfectly cleaned and new though. The view is beautiful and when you wake up (after a terrible night) it is nice to see the lake view. Honestly we found the price of this room quite expensive for what we got. I cannot recommended it.

Perfect room, perfect breakfast, Tragic reception at arrival at limit of politeness, no information about blockage of access road so that we had to sleep by Friends, no warm water last day .I am operated with a STOMIE thus very difficult with cold water,girl at check out said all ok and forgot to charge breakfast and local tax.Instead of sendind thenth of E mails please manage your hotel properly.And infor when access of hotel for handicapped people is blcked.

So this is about my 5th time and my last time to the hotel, and I’m writing this review because I’m sad that the hotel is no longer a great stay. I first stayed at the hotel in 2022 October, we had a warm welcome at the reception desk, and a welcome glass of champagne. We stayed in the basic rooms twins, these were spacious and clean and serviced everyday. They had fridges, coffee machine and welcome water. The restaurant was pleasant and efficient. Fast forward to my last two visits, gone is the reception area and now located at the bar not obvious where you check in. There is now no welcome drink. In September in the different room so one up from the basic. Firstly these can not be twin rooms, which I think they should mention. The room wasn’t that clean and though we had a air con unit in the room it was filthy and they had put a piece of MDF up instead of the window and had cut a hole for the pipe. Not exactly nice and health and safety wise not good. The rooms are no longer cleaned daily and you can ask on the second day for fresh towels and a tidy up. I would advise against staying at hotel in summer as it is too hot. The restaurant is now rather sad, the napkin rings has missing legs, wings, the food is not great to be honest. This week I’m staying in the superior rooms, you no longer get a free bottle of champagne for this room, hell you don’t even get bottles of water now. Last month you did. The superior room was dirty under the bed was someone’s vape. They said new beds actually it’s just a topper. In our bathroom there is a hole cut out the ceiling with a vent showing. Our patio door doesn’t close properly. The wet room bathrooms flood. So need loads of towels which are suppose to be provided in the rather tacky wooden boxes by the lifts. In the other room there was a broken glass table still there so dangerous and dirty glasses. The meal we had last night was terrible we waited for an hour between courses. It’s such a shame as this hotel has loads of potential and probably needs good investment. The location and view of lakes would make it a gem. But I will not be staying here again. Oh bedrooms need mirrors in the bed area not just bathroom!
