We traveled to Gateway Canyons for a dual purpose - to celebrate my husband's birthday/our anniversary, and to scout a location for a writing retreat and VIP days I'm planning to offer in my business. We arrived on the first open day of 2024, understanding that there were limitations in the usual amenities. For example, with daytime temperatures in the 40s, the pools weren't open, though the hot tub was, and only one restaurant on-site was open. Other than those limitations, it was a lovely stay! The resort is perfect for large and small gatherings, with gorgeous views, lovely rooms and a friendly, happy staff. Best of all, the beds were comfy! An unexpected treat - there's an auto museum on site, as well as lots of outdoor adventure type entertainment. If you're not interested in public swimming or hot-tubbing, reserve one of the rooms with a private hot-tub on the patio. And if you come when the temperatures are chilly, get one with a fireplace out there, too! Pay attention to speed limits! There are deer, elk, and bighorn sheep close to the road in from Grand Junction.
