Liked · From the moment we arrived at L’Imperator Maison Albar we knew we had chosen the right hotel for our stay in Nimes. This is an EXCEPTIONAL 5-star hotel and has truly set the benchmark for luxury and hospitality. Every detail of our stay was meticulously catered to, making it a very memorable experience. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a very warm welcome from GM Romaric Blanvillain. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and we were shown around the beautiful facilities and on to our room by the charming Rievelinio. The hotel combines class, elegance and warmth, with beautiful interior decor and clever use of space and architecture. The pool is heavenly - in fact there are two pools to choose from, an indoor pool next to the spa and an outdoor pool with plenty of sun loungers and peace and quiet. By the pool we were looked after by Quentin with an impressive level of courtesy and efficiency. Breakfast was wonderful (thanks to Natalie and Romane) and served in a calm setting, with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. What truly sets L’Imperator apart is the exceptional service provided by the team and the way they make guests feel. Many hotels try to be hospitable because that is their job, they are ‘paid to smile’, but the Albar staff are happy to be there and show genuine care for each guest- even remembering guests names when greeting them. Special mention to the Hero’s Pierre and Benjamin, who both went above and beyond in their assistance and care. And the exceptional Fabien (so speedy) Tristan and Frederic, Kaoutar, Doriane, Karla, Clara, Maxime, Imrane, Sabah and Claire. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a truly exceptional stay. We have already re-booked to stay again…we love Nimes and we will come back to stay at L’Imperator.
We stayed a week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit, but it's not without faults. Closer to 3 star than the declared 4star The garden offers some pleasant privacy. The pool is pristine and ideal for children to splash about in but swimming - no. Our room with access to the garden was very comfortable with quiet effective air conditioning.A well-appointed bathroom with good plumbing. Breakfast ( included ) was adequate. The cooked section was scrambled eggs and sausages, didn't like. Three minor things irritated us: Ordering a Gin& Tonic the only bottle was close to empty, the next evening there was no Gin and I was advised there would not be any for the rest of the week. As it happens a fresh bottle appeared on day three. The Hotel was understaffed as when ordering drinks they were started and were on the counter only to be abandoned as guests had arrived, when I enquired after our drinks I was blankly informed that guests had to be checked in, I mentioned that I had ordered prior to them arriving ( I apologised to the guests - but the ice was melting ! ) and then on checking out the receptionist said I had to pay for all extras for our visit without seeing a bill. I explained that I had never been asked to pay a hotel bill without being shown and was told ” I guess we're different” I thought it was rude and foolish. I would still totally recommend L'Orangerie, we really enjoyed ourselves, just be prepared to navigate the above ”silly annoying” things and all will be well. There is no dining room as such although plenty of space for breakfast. There are a few restaurants across the road. It's circa 15 min walk to La Gare.
Based on the many positive reviews, we booked this hotel for a stopover to our final destination (Costa Blanca) and it turned out to be a great success! Plenty of free parking, very spacious room and bathroom, king-size bed with firm mattress and good pillows, cozy seating area, excellent WiFi connection. Good breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff.
It gives me no pleasure to leave a poor review but it has to be said this was a disapointing stay. We chose the most expensive room which had two levels, upstairs being the main living room. We used photos to make our selection but they bore little resemblence to what we got. (Photo one/two) The room had been stripped down to bare essentials. No bedside lights or sockets. Furthermore the bathroom (somewhat grubby) was downstairs with the main light at the bottom of a narrow curved staircase. There was a table light at the top of the stairs which did not provide much safety. The balcony area was shared with three large air conditioning units. The downstairs rooms were likewise spartan, no carpets/rugs, poor decor and an old fence used as a headboard on the ground floor bed. (From which I got a splinter.) The main entrance was nicely appointed though the staircarpet was long overdue to be changed spoiling the impression. On arrival after driving 500 kms, we were told there was no food to be had. This as it turned out, was a lucky escape as when we did eat in, two days later when there was food, we were presented with gazpacho that was so vinegary it was imposible to finish and ”risotto”(??) literally pressed into a jam pot. No flavour, no presentation. The dessert was an industrial chocolate mousse in a jar. Good things: The pool area was nice and kept clean. (The water was very cold.) The breakfasts were good. The staff were friendly. I have tried to be fair in this review. Pré Galoffre needs to pay attention to details if it's to maintain it's place as third hotel in Nimes and not rest on any laurels it may have had in the past. We shall not return.
Cracking little Ibis, around 5 mins off the motorway. Very well soundproofed rooms, with big comfy beds. Loads of bars n restaurants within a 5 min walk. Grassy area out front of hotel for dogs. Good Wifi, secure parking and a very good breakfast choice. All staff great, especially the young guy from Brazil. Pool open, and big enough to swim laps
This is a beautiful property, well situated and beautifully decorated and we had a room - really a suite! - that exceeded our expectations. It was the kind of room that made me want to stay in all evening and pretend it was my home, not even needing to explore Nimes outside our four walls - a beautiful bedroom, sitting room and luxurious bath (but only a tub, no shower). HOWEVER, this first impression was soured by our overnight experience. We did not know we were situated with an adjoining wall to a loud bar until it was late in the evening - and impossible to sleep with the thumping of music coming through the wall. When morning came, my partner took a bath and everything was fine. I went to take mine - remember, no shower - and discovered the water was ice cold. Hotel maintenance came and said all the water heaters were working - he did not know what the problem was but he could not solve it. So after a crummy night of sleep in this beautiful place, and no ability to clean up the next day, we continued our trip and moved on to our next destination. Given the night club, lack of sleep and no ability to shower, we thought it was reasonable to ask for some sort of accommodation and asked for half of our room cost to be refunded. The girls at the front desk were apologetic and lovely, but clearly not empowered to take any real action. They promised to share our experience with the owner/manager who would make this decision. Weeks have passed, and we have received no word from her and have to assume we have come and gone and she doesn’t care. Maybe she will care now that I have posted this review.
