Elk Cove Inn & Spa

A hidden gem just south of Mendocino , Elk Cove Inn is our favorite place on the Northern CA coast. The views are incredible, but what really makes it special is how at home the owners Melissa and Victor make you feel during your stay. Breakfast in the room is such a treat as you watch the waves roll onto the beach below, and dinner is exceptional with all of our favorite French dishes like Cassoulet, Coq au Vin, and Boeuf Bourguignon.

Beautiful rooms, stunning views, lovely landscapes and excellent food. Our hosts were just attentive enough and available if needed. Two couples had a great and memorable time. Chef Victor is an army of one, producing beautiful food that satisfies.

Great spot. Lovely views, homey accommodations, tasty food and friendly team. We had two nights here and really enjoyed ourselves. Will plan to come back in the future. This is also a really nice time of year to be in this part of the world. Enjoyed it!

Lovely owners, staff and four wonderful dogs! Sam McCanse Room had a great view and was very comfortable. We enjoyed Victor's exceptional cooking and Melissa's wine knowledge. Direct access to beach was appreciated for beachcoming. Navarro State Beach and Manchester State Beach were easy drives. Wish we had taken the formal property tour and that we'd brought dog treats!

The staff is so friendly. The rooms have little extras such as a bottle of wine. There were extra blankets to keep you warm if you sat outside. I actually used mine inside, while enjoying watching the ocean. A short walk to the beach or town. The breakfast was very good, some items homemade. When you arrive the tv is playing soft music with the fireplace on. Love this place!

I thought I'd treat myself to a weekend break in Elk. After a long but amazing drive from San Jose and a super friendly check-in, I was treated to much needed complimentary chocolate and a little carafe of port! Just what I needed. There's a beautiful beach just a few minutes walk away. It might be a bit of a tricky walk for some, but well worth it. I was lucky enough to have a cute little cottage room that overlooked the beach and provided an amazing view of Elk Rock. There's a lovely feeling of calm and the hotel gardens are full of amazing flora. Oh! And there are dogs - friendly and happy to show some affection. I was already happy enough, but the best was yet to come. When I was there, Elk Cove Inn had arranged a "winemaker's dinner". We (the guests) were treated to champagne and cocktails before a truly amazing meal with hand-picked wines for each course. It was lovely to share a meal with the other guests (I was traveling solo), chatting, eating, and generally enjoying life. I felt sad to leave - the staff, the ambience, and the location are all fabulous. Thank you!

We stayed in the George Burke room with an amazing view of the ocean, Elk Cove and Greenwood Creek in a dramatic winter storm. Highly recommend that space. It’s clean, cozy, nicest gas fire place, beautiful bathroom with great shower and jacuzzi, so comfortable and pet friendly. A lovely breakfast was served in our room. What a treat.

Cozy Inn with incredible ocean views. Staff are excellent and friendly. Breakfast so fresh and delicious! I would definitely recommend making reservations if you want dinner at the Inn. We unfortunately missed out. We were able to get into a restaurant five minutes away but disappointed with the food.

My wife and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary here (we had been here last year as well). There is no better place to celebrate anything. The Inn is a wonderful place for peace, solitude and food. The surrounding grounds are lovely. There are several great dogs and cats who might visit you in your room if you so desire. The dinners are as good as any Michelin starred restaurant. Extensive properly priced menu and an excellent wine list (although wines by the glass could offer more). But best of all is the Owner, Melissa Boon (her husband is the chef). Warm, intelligent and just someone one would love to know.
