Always enjoy staying at The Matrix. Rooms are very nice, on-site restaurant and lounge are very good. Will stay here again. Only downside is the $30/night parking fee

Complimentary cocktail is a nice offer, but only available at the (small) bar that everyone needs to squeeze around and wait for a drink to be made by one bartender (you are not allowed to sit in the seating area of the lounge, only at the bar which is very small). The drink is a cheap liqueur with a lot of syrup, so nothing noteworthy.

The pictures looked nothing like the room we were in. The bed was awful, the room was dusty and not clean, the counter top was broken and $30 to park outside was a bit much being we saw parking down the street got a third of the street but if course after we already paid.
It was so loud we could hear pretty much everyone in all the rooms. It was not worth the money by any means, we figured we would try something other than the Westin and won't be doing that again. Not impressed at all.

We stayed here as a “staycation”. We ended up going to the restaurant there for our free drink which turned out to be watered down sangria. The food was cold even though it wasn’t busy. The rooms are VERY small. And there isn’t a fan in the bathroom.
The big thing though is that it is in downtown Edmonton. We knew this and we stayed there knowing the area and its…complexities. When we came back from having drinks, a woman was being restrained by the security guard. She was on the ground screaming intermittently about working at a storage facility. One of the computers was on the ground next to her. We weren’t allowed through the lobby until it was safe. I write this so that people understand the area they are staying in.
