Very welcoming staff, great that you can have a drink in the bar after a long walk on the beach (which is very close by). Breakfast is 10/10, a lot of choice and fresh products. Great value for money - would definitely recommend. Instant holiday feeling!

Just back from this superb hôtel. This is THE PLACE to be in De Haan. Excellent service, personnel extremely professional. A small mention for Freya , réception and Brian in the bar, but all were very polite and welcoming. The rooms also very clean, and bed very confortable. Bathroom and toilet facilities clean and well furnished with accessories. An excellent breakfast one can only dream of! No complaints whatsoever. A really good surprise and just a few minutes walk from the beach. I fully recommend this excellent hôtel. We intend to return whenever possible. Congratulations to the Manager and team. G. There was no parking. You need to park on the main road. Rooms and facilities are old. No aircon. No fridge. Carpet is very dirty and full of spots. Definitely not a 4 stars.

I stayed at Hotel Astoria with my family in August 2022. This is one of the priciest hotels in De Haan which itself is an expensive city. To start with the hotel does not have a step-free entrance, quite shocking in this day and age so if you are travelling with lots of luggage, have a family with a push-chair (like us) or a wheel-chair user rule out staying here straight away. There are about ten high steps to access the hotel, staff offer no help instead they actually look at you like you are a nuisance. At arrival, the check-in staff tried to charge us for the extra bed in the room without bothering to see the booking so be careful if travelling with a family. We were told we can have a complimentary drink from their bar. When trying to claim this offer the staff makes you feel like you are a freeloader, pure rude behaviour followed by a list of drinks that the offer doesn't cover. Basically you can only have a beer or a soft drink. They say they have parking on premises but it's actually just free off-street parking. On the day of our departure there was a fare in the city center so we had to park our car 2miles away. The staff prefers business from walk-in customers in bar and restaurant over hotel guests. Attitude towards children was specially cold and distant, again making us feel like we are causing them extra work.

This hotel is authentic and modern. Comfortable and childfriendly rooms. Breakfast is wonderfull. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Astoria is in the center of this little beach village. Few minutes walk to the beach, shops, restaurants.

1. There was no on-site parking yet the hotel states there is 2. We were told to park round the corner off site with heavy suitcase etc it was a bit of a mission 3. There is no step free access to the hotel and it is little high from ground level. 4. Due to some festival on one of the day on stay the car had to be moved outside of the inner square and parked away if you wanted to use it on the day of festival. Which was news to us when we got there - we could have been told about this earlier. I had to go and live the car night before and walk back about 15/20 mins from the main road. 5. Welcome drink - was not able to choose anything on menu - selected option which included soft drink or beer only not great not very welcoming!

Exceptional hotel "belle époque", beautifully decorated, modern and calm. Very kind and professional staff, we appreciated their help in trying to book a table for us in a restaurant. Excellent breakfast, with fresh, delicious products. The hotel is in the center of Den Haan, close to everything, beach, shops, restaurants, tram stop. Free parking just outside the hotel. Great bathroom, recently renovated, with a great shower and a lot of light. Comfortable room and bed. Free bottles of water in the room. All Covid-19 measures were respected and we felt safe. They even provided free hand sanitizer in the room.

The sheer arrogance of the management of this hotel is jaw dropping. In spite of Belgian covid regulations allowing outside terrace dining, without warning and having paid handsomely for half board, the residents of this hotel were banished to eat in their rooms on a sunny May evening. When I challenged a receptionist (who maintained he was the owner but I doubt it) about why they did not warn guests booking half board that dinner would be a set menu served at a non negotiable time in the small bedrooms, I was offered no apology or gesture of goodwill just told I should have known. It’s not as if the hotel terrace was closed as they were happily feeding and watering non residents all day and night. When I asked if we could take our dinner downstairs to eat on the terrace, I was firmly told no. As regular visitors to De Haan, we will not be returning. We will go back to the Ibis where the rooms are bigger and the staff more amenable. Ironically, the dinner in the cramped bedroom was delicious.
