My mum and I had a wonderful stay at Thon Hotel Polar. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to nearby restaurants, bars, shops and the harbor where we joined a whale watching tour. There are bus stops within a 2 minute walk to access the airport and other destinations. The staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room itself is lovely and bright, and nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are kept warm which I was worried about. The hotel and the rooms are very clean. The hotel has a large sitting area, with a games table and a coffee machine which is free of charge. The breakfast was exceptional, all very fresh and tasty with plenty of choice and it runs early every morning up until 10:30am. I would highly recommend staying here for your stay in Tromso. I will stay here again on my next visit.
While Enter St Elizabeth Suites was away from downtown, it was a comfortable 10-15min walk with a supermarket just 5mins away. We chose the hotel for its location which is situated on a hill with nice view of the harbour and the self-service laundry which most of the other hotels in Tromso did not have. As it was recently refurbished, all corners of the hotel was clean and new. We stayed jn the One Bedroom suite with seaview for 3 nights. Bedroom was very small, with the queen bed taking up most of the walking space and there was just a wall shelf with coat rack. However, this didn’t bother us. The sofa in the living room doubles as a sofa bed which comfortably sleeps 2 teens. Kitchen was compact but well equipped with oven and dishwasher. For those who need the room to be cleaned will need to place the card outside the door the night before. Although we did not request for housekeeping service during our short stay there, the housekeeping team dropped by anyway (on day 2) to check if we needed to replenish any items. Breakfast was included. Small selection but sufficient for us. Breakfast is served on the top floor restaurant on 5th floor with nice views of the harbour. The self service laundry room is located on the 2nd floor at the other wing near the restaurant. As there was only 1 washer and 1 dryer, you’ll need to wait if someone was ahead of you. Overall a very comfortable stay and we will stay here again if we return to Tromso!
We rented a 1 bed apartment near the Enter Viking Hotel. The place had been thoroughly cleaned and was quite new. It was overall cozy, quiet, warm and fully equipped. It even had a view toward the Arctic Cathedral. Definitely recommended!
ผผู้เข้าพักshort version: cozy, clean, & relaxing. Comfy beds. Good food. Great for getaways. But if you’re doing multiple excursions, the drive can be draining & eat into your vacation. Staff was friendly. Owners not so much. Detailed version: Absolutely charming! Very clean & comfy. My mom & I stayed in cabin #4 & it’s right next to the dining hall. The cabin has 2 rooms, an entryway, & a bathroom. One room had a built-in bed, nightstand, windows, & chair. The other room had a built-in bed, nightstand, windows, & another separate bed with different covers & possibly a different mattress. The built-in beds we so soft & cozy! Both rooms had small, plug-in radiator heaters & they’re super efficient! There are no dressers or cabinets for clothes so we left ours in our suitcases & put them open under our beds. There’s lots of open space under the beds (may be a nice idea to convert part of that into cubbies or drawers?). You will need outlet converters if you’re not from Europe. The bathroom has a small sink, toilet, shower, one shelf & hair dryer. Toilet paper is provided. And liquid hand soap that smells fantastic. One bath towel & one hand towel provided per guest (more available upon request). **no wash cloths** so bring your own. The entry way to the cabin has heated tile flooring which was a nice touch. No outside shoes are to be worn in the bedrooms or bathroom, so shoes are to be removed in the entryway. It would be very helpful to have a chair or bench here for shoe removal/application. There are coat hanging hooks along 2 of the walls in the entryway which was great. The bedroom doors & bathroom door all have hanging hooks on them. Thank you!!! Such a big help. It would be very helpful to have a few more shelves for toiletries and small belongings. There’s plenty of wall space in the rooms & bathroom for free-floating shelves. The dining room consists of 6-8 tables. Some are 2-seaters. Some are 6-seaters and can be rearranged as needed. Soft, relaxing music plays in the background while you’re served delicious foods made straight from their kitchen, with some of it sourced from their farm. The ambience is really peaceful. You must try the carrot cake & the almond cake. Both were fantastic!!! They have several blends of teas. Coffee & cappuccinos are available. There are some lamb skins from their own farm available for purchase along with handmade soaps, knitwear, & other items. There’s a living room with couches upstairs in that building. Outside shoes are not allowed past the entryway so it helps to brings slippers or thick socks. The parking lot designated for guests is down a significantly steep hill. Maybe a hundred yards or so in distance. Parking at your cabin is allowed only during brief moments like loading/unloading your vehicle. If the owner sees your vehicle parked outside the cabin for longer than 15 minutes, you will receive a knock on the door with a somewhat urgent request to move your vehicle. This becomes especially tricky i
ผผู้เข้าพักThe best way to describe this hotel is average in every way. Everything in Tromso is ”central” - it's not a big place so that isn't really a selling point. The rooms are very small (even the ”deluxe” ones) and there are only two elevators for a pretty sizable 8 story hotel so get ready for the stairs. I paid extra to be on the 8th floor because I read the reviews about the nightclub underneath and boy they were right - I could hear thumping well into the night so bring your earplugs (the club appears to only be open Thursday - Saturday so if you're travelling outside of that, I'm sure it's more tolerable to try to sleep). Hindsight being 20/20, I would've paid $30-40 more to stay at one of the better rated hotels.
The breakfast was great, there was absolutely nothing missing and left nothing to be desired. The location right in the city center was also perfect. The bathroom was good, especially the shower was great! The lobby and breakfast room are attractively furnished. We had booked a family room (up to 4 people) for 3 adults. The room was much, much too small for this! There was only one space for suitcases and no storage for packing and unpacking. As the suitcases were very dirty due to the winter weather, it was out of the question to put them on the bed. There were no closets, shelves or anything like that, just a coat rack. There were not enough hooks in the bathroom. There was also no safe. It would be nice if there was a shoe shine machine in the house, absolutely essential in muddy weather. Also, the carpeting in the hallways is very run down.
My wife and I arrived the early morning of Monday, June 10th. We had just arrived after our NCL cruise, and were hoping to drop off our luggage until check in time. Upon arrival it was freaking busy, with numerous cruise ship people both coming, and heading out. With that, we were greeted right away, and offered a meeting room to store our luggage until check in. Everyone we met at the hotel, from the front desk workers, to the numerous women working in the dining room area, were wonderful. We came back sometime after 3pm, and our room was still not ready. No big deal, as we then checked out more of Tromso, and had dinner. We were eventually checked in. Our room was clean and comfortable. It looked good and it smelled good. The beds were comfortable. Everything worked well. The shower door setup was something of a mess. You would have water all over the bathroom floor unless you limited the water flow, and made sure the shower head was more in a certain direction. After the learning curve we were able to somewhat control the size of the water on the floor. The room faced the back of the building, right against an office building. If you were not careful you could give some of the office workers quite a show. The beds were comfy. And the star of the show was the complimentary breakfast, afternoon cake and coffee, and the complimentary dinner. The breakfast was very yummy, with lots of choices, both hot and cold items. Along with coffee and juices. The afternoon coffee had some very yummy cakes. And the dinner was super good, and varied each night. All the meals seemed like there was some serious thought and effort to the spread. The dinner was a very pleasant surprise. Each day they posted the dinner menu. The hotel is right downtown, close to everything. So convenient. We had a wonderful stay. We would absolutely stay again.
