The hotel is a step back in time with beautiful padded wall paper, vaulted ceiling and renaissance paintings. Our room was located in a separate building from check in and very noisy after dark but what would you expect in such a busy city. The staff is friendly and helpful. Finally, the location is great with easy access to the San Marco square.

How perfect is this hotel? Situated a short walk from the Rialto Bridge. Is it crowded during the day? Yes, but the hotel's charm makes up for that. We had a double room facing the alley. It was very big with two twins. The beds were extremely comfortable after a long day of touring. Behind the hotel, in the market area, is lots of shops and restaurants. Across from the hotel is the Vaporetto stop and super market. My friends had a canal view room, which was small. That view with a balcony made up for it. The breakfast room was perfect with a large choice of hot and cold foods. The front desk employees were polite and very helpful. We needed a last minute ride to Ravenna and the manager worked on it until he found us a driver. Sorry I never got his name to thank him but it all worked out with his expertise. I highly recommend this hotel........

an excellent hotel with excellent service. We had 5 rooms reserved at the hotel. We left the hotel to go to Ravenna via the trains. We left our Apple air pods in of one the rooms. The gentleman from the front desk (morning shift - sorry I don’t remember his name) on his own walked over the train station, tracked us down and surprised us to give us the air pods. I travel a lot and have never seen such exceptional service. Literally, because of his level of exceptional service from when we checked in to now, we decided to change our hotels (when we return from the cruise) to stay again at The Carlton because of his above and beyond attitude. Thank you for your hospitality and outstanding experience from the point of when we first checked in.

This is a beautiful hotel with excellent service. I upgraded to a deluxe room where the bed was on a raised platform 4 steps up. I had an armoire closet with safe, and a sofa. Bottled water was provided. The walls are a plush gold damask fabric pattern. Lighting in the room was excellent. My bathroom was very large with 2 sinks and a large walk-in shower with a wonderfully strong rain head shower. There is no grab bar in the shower enclosure. The front desk was very helpful in making restaurant reservations, getting a water taxi, and advising on Baroque music concerts (something you should do in Venice!). We loved the breakfast buffet in a lovely room with Murano glass chandeliers and sconces, and many choices of interesting things to eat. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from both San Marco in one direction and Rialto in the other direction, just the right distance. You would not want to be too close to either due to the crowds and the noise, but this was far enough away yet easily close enough to walk. It is one minute away from the large Campo Maria Formosa, an open space which has a couple of large restaurants/bars and gondola service right there. Many more restaurants in the small alleys and streets around the hotel.

Esperienza meravigliosa. Posizione ottima vicino alla stazione ma anche comoda al centro con una camminata di 20 min. Mentre è a 10 min da cannareggio. Tanti ristoranti e bancari ottimi a 5 min. Camere meravigliose e pulite! Colazione eccezionale! Personale squisito! Vale il prezzo! Ci torneremo!

We had a wonderful stay here when we were last in Venice (2016), therefore we had no hesitation in returning for our 2024 holiday. Although 8 years have passed between stays this hotel remains superb from start to finish. Easy check-in, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast and the room was very comfortable, with clean bedding each day and a refreshing shower. We were lucky to have a Grand Canal view room (207) and the view was fantastic. The windows were sound-proofed so we slept very well in the comfortable bed. The location is also excellent with a pier outside for the airport transfer drop-off/pick-up and well within strolling distance of many very good restaurants and all of the major sites. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.
