One Drake Road, Tavistock, Devon

This review is one of only a handful I have ever done. Which tells you I am saving reviews for only the exceptional. This place ticks all the boxes. I came for one night with my Daughter and we loved every second of the stay. It was better than described inside and that doesn't happen often. The hosts were absolutely wonderful. Extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. and their interior design skills need more awards. It was warm and cosy. The bed was heated. The place smelled incredible as soon as we walked in. Location is amazing. Tavistock is a lovely town, anything you want from Dar**oor is nearby. The water was hot. The outside areas are peaceful. I mean it was impeccable. Seriously, not only will I be back, but I will aim to stay here on every visit to Dar**oor in the future. I literally feel no need to book anywhere else. I even misread the child age limit and I do recommend calling ahead if you have young family. I felt I was going to cause upset and actually Charlotte was given a beautiful little toy to take with her, which she loves and was made to feel like the most welcome guest. The cherry on the top for her after a stay she will remember forever. This is a 10/10 apar**ent.

I had high expectations, based on the web site description. The actual experience was far better than expected. Great host, great quality furniture in the room, and lovely and clean and warm.

We only had one night here and it was wonderful, couldnt fault it atall. Central to everything you need on the town. The apar**ent was spotlessly clean, comfy bed and the set up was great.

Jack and Ian have restored this Georgian building in the centre of Tavistock beautifully. I was surprised to find that neither of them are interior designers. Lovely breakfast, including the best sausages I've had in yonks. The couple are very charming and even gave me a Chris**as present and a slice of Ian's birthday cake. I come from the Tavistock area, originally, and One Drake Road is a tremendous addition. Hopefully, Jack and Ian take the town over, eventually, and turn it into the Notting Hill of West Devon.

We recently stayed at One Drake Road hosted by the lovely and very hospitable couple Jack and Iain. We booked the basement apar**ent as we are Mom and daughter travelling but we like our own rooms. The apar**ent has a communal area with kitchenette and shared bathroom and a little entertainment are and then two bedrooms both huge and uniquely decorated and utterly charming with so much decor to look, it really reflects Iain and Jacks warm personalities. Breakfast is hosted in the main guest house and is very relaxed and simple which was more than enough for us each day. There is no parking but there are several car parks nearby. We parked at a friend's house so for us was not an issue really. As hosts I can't say enough nice things about Iain and Jack and of course Gracie the dog who is a lovely natured doggy. Tavistock itself is lovely and you can walk everywhere. We will definitely be going back!

Jack is an amazing host, very welcoming. My en suite bedroom was unique - beautifully designed, lots of little touches like local recommendations, neal’s yard toiletries. Breakfast - which is at additional cost - was so lovely. My husband is coming back for a visit and I’m booking for stay in October. Who needs boring and bland hotel - stay here, you’ll be supporting a small business that puts its heart snd soul into everything they do. And boy, do they do it well. Well done!

This stay was sensational. It was styled to perfection and made me feel like I was staying in absolute luxury. The gorgeous little touches of the local products and produce within the apar**ent were amazing. I quickly headed into town to stock up on some of the most amazing local things. It is environmentally friendly, with plastic free milk. The boys were so kind, friendly and were always available for a cup of tea in possibly the best drawing room in England. Do not miss this stay. What a hidden gem and little beauty. So much love in the apar**ent. It was easily accessible and safe too. Thanks again. I will be back.

The accomodation was amazing. I had the best time and the boys were there to support me with any issues I had, lend an umbrella or share a cup of tea. They facilitated my insane midnight arrival and assured me that if I had any issues they were there to help. The room was decorated and I felt like I was in a magazine. It was curated to perfection with all things a tired traveler could possible need. It was stylish and most of all immaculately clean and tidy. It was environmentally friendly using plastic free milk containers and had loads of local products to try and enjoy. They also provided those little touches that were unbelievable, like where to get food etc. I would not hesitate to stay again and will tell all the Aussie’s back home, that if they’re ever in Tavistock that these accomodations are a must. Thanks again for all the love too. Travelling alone can be lonely at times and a cup of tea and a chat about the world was just what I needed.

Wow, what place. This is a truly welcoming place. Lovely decor throughout with the most wonderful soaps, shampoos and lotions placed beautifully in our ensuite. Had a good nights sleep on a cosy bed. Drake's Road is easily located to explore Tavistock with it's independent shops, market and eateries.
