Overall, loved my stay but definitely wouldn't book that specific room again due to the exhaust fumes. Liked · Breakfast was excellent and the host was lovely, friendly and genuinely concerned and caring in trying to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Location is excellent and parking provided was safe and convenient. Room was spotless and as it was bitterly cold, the room came equipped with electric blankets, as well as extra blankets. Disliked · We were placed in a room directly above where the generator is housed (used during loadshedding) and whilst we were warned about the noise, the fumes from the generator came straight into our room to the point where we both got headaches. We felt nauseous and unwell. Would recommend that the owner either direct the exhaust away from the room or not have guests in that room during loadshedding times. However, I will definitely be visiting again in future trips down to Cape Town and look forward to my next stay.

I have often stayed at your B&B. In the past your restaurant was very good. About 4 months ago we stayed somewhere else but had a meal at the Dorpshuis again. I had Mutton curry. You were very frugal with the quantity of meat in the dish, and the quality was quite the lowest I have ever encountered anywhere. I am not a fussy eater, and this is my first negative review ever. I am planning to overnight in Calitzdorp again and this brought to mind my past experience. Thought I would inform you not to expect me again, ever. Too many other food-honest establishments for me to visit.
