Hotel Meurice

A great hotel in a good location with secure parking albeit a little tricky to park as space is tight.Classic French style with superb customer service and communication. Friendly staff and every time we have stayed there never a problem so always return !

Having never previously been to Calais, I was unsure what to expect at this hotel. I need not have worried as this is a truly beautiful hotel in a very central location in the town. The luxury decor reminded me of some 5 star hotels I have stayed in elsewhere and has been tastefully done. We had a family room on the second floor which was very well appointed with a very nice bathroom, separate toilet and large room with beds and seating area. The attention to detail was impressive and I loved the high quality bathroom towels with had the hotel crest on them. Breakfast was an equally impressive affair ranging from bacon, sausages and scrambled egg right through to pancakes, croissants and cheese. The breakfast room itself was absolutely stunning complete with chandeliers that reminded me more of a ballroom than a restaurant. My family absolutely loved this hotel. This hotel is clearly very well run with engaging staff and is spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a luxury break in Calais who would also like to experience the art deco style of an era when hotels had charm and individuality.

This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Calais. The ambiance and the decor was so amazing. The staff were also so helpful and couldn’t do enough to help as enjoy our stay. The bedrooms were spacious and do clean. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious

We have stayed here previously and pleased to say that from the moment we walked in, it lived up to our previous experiences. A wonderful and genteel ambiance with nothing too much trouble. We stayed in one of the Classic rooms which was exceptionally clean, warm and comfortable. It gave us everything we needed for really good value for money. We parked our car in the secure underground car park and left it there for the 4 nights we stayed there, getting around locally on the free buses and the Balladin. Ideal location and close to the station which we have previously used to go to Wimereax and Boulogne. Thank you all so much, we had a lovely time!

We have just returned from a short break at this delightful hotel. As soon as we arrived we were greeted warmly by reception staff. We had booked Superior rooms and these were in typical French decor with a separate toilet and shower room. Our rooms were on the first floor, with large Queen Size beds which were incredibly comfortable, it turns out they were Hypnos mattresses, so no wonder. The hotel was very quiet, with very few guests, which meant that we were able to enjoy the large public areas, bar and dining room, virtually to ourselves for the duration of our stay. The breakfast choice was excellent with the best croissants and homemade cakes among the highlights. As other reviewers have said the hotel is in a side road, making it incredibly quiet, but within very easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and an easy 15 min walk to the beach. All the staff we met were incredibly polite and helpful, always ensuring we had everything we needed. We very much look forward to returning in the future.

All common areas of this hotel are beautiful, with lots of antique furniture and objects. Staff are very welcoming and speak very good English. Very good buffet breakfast. Good size rooms. Ideal position for restaurants, shops and only an 8 minute easy drive to ferry terminal.

Fabulous hotel ,very lovely decor, rooms OK but a little bit dated . Great for stop over on our way to Germany Breakfast was adequate Staff very welcoming, close to centre of Calais and Euro Tunnel.

We booked for one night only, while on a shopping trip. Hotel reception staff, very friendly, room was extremely comfortable, secure underground parking (to keep the shopping safe) and in a great location for the many restaurants and bars Callais has to offer. We would definitely book again.

Back again. I thought the hotel might be deserted at this time of year - but it was busy. Fortunately the public spaces are so vast, the hotel never seems crowded. The long list of British TV channels (missing on my last visit) has been restored. You don't always get a lot of British TV in French hotels - so this is very welcome. The hotel was full of Brits - many seemed regulars. This very comfortable hotel is slap bang in the middle of Calais (although situated in a quiet side street) and this means the best restaurants are an easy walk. Yes, the breakast is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth it. The buffet is set up in what I believe was the hotel's wood panelled restaurant (closed some years ago) and then you eat in a huge banqueting hall. All very attractive. A look into the past - when hotels were full of character. It showcases France 50 years ago. You can almost smell the Gauloise and imagine that all the cars will have yellow headlamps. The bathrooms are modern - and if your car is full of expensive wine you can sleep easy because the hotel has a very secure underground car park.
