Rembrandt Hotel

Centrally located in a great spot right next door to the Van Gogh cafe. Room (21) is spacious with all amenities you would expect . You are right in the city centre and it is wonderfully vibrant and lively , expect some noise ( you are on holiday after all) . The Staff are all amazing ,always available to help and advise. We would definitely recommend you stay at this little gem of a hotel . We love supporting independent local businesses and we weren’t disappointed

The hotel is located on a pedestrianised* street in the centre of the ‘old town’, so it is perfectly situated for sightseeing on foot, and near an abundance of bars/cafes/restaurants. (*Of course, this does mean that cars/taxis can’t come right to the hotel door, so there is a very short walk to and from the nearest place they can stop.) On arrival, we were warmly welcomed; and all the staff we met (in reception and in the breakfast room) were very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. There is a small, ‘old-fashioned’ style lift (elevator) to reach the upper floors, but it worked well! The rooms were large, comfortable, well-furnished (in an older, more traditional style) and impressively clean, with good storage space and amenities including luggage rack, tea/coffee making, individual toiletries, and slippers. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The over-bath shower functioned very well. Very importantly (because there was unusually hot weather for the time of year when we stayed), the air conditioning was very efficient. We thought the breakfast was excellent for a hotel of this size. There were hot drinks, juices, hot omelette slices, boiled eggs, cereals, bread, rolls, pastries & cake, a selection of jam & other spreads, salami and cheese (and possibly other things I’ve forgotten too), and everything tasted fresh. There were just a couple of things that have led me to rate this as 4/5 rather than 5/5, although I’m not sure that either is really the hotel’s fault. Firstly, one of our nights was a Saturday and – despite the double-glazing - we were disturbed by noise (mainly loud music, presumably from a nearby venue) until well into the early hours of the morning. However, the other night was quiet – so perhaps this is just a Saturday night problem (or a one-off bad experience). Secondly, staff and guests tended to congregate right outside the front door of the hotel to smoke and vape, and the smoke seemed to come into the reception area, and also funneled up into the mezzanine breakfast room when the windows were open, and possibly to the bedrooms at the front of the hotel. I realise this wouldn’t be an issue for many people, but we are non-smokers and very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. But overall, we thought this was an excellent hotel, and we would be very pleased to return if we come to Bucharest again.

Excellent hotel in the best location. Centrally located in Bucharests Old city, fabulous for all the sight seeing and for all the great bars and restaurants. The reception staff were fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly and spoke great English. Breakfast was good. Room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely stay here again.

The property location is absolutely amazing! Very central, next door to Van Gough cafe. Couldn’t ask for better location if we tried. Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Room was very spacious, clean and bed was really comfortable. Mini working fridge, water, tea, coffee, kettle, toilets, spa slippers, free safe, coat hangers. All very useful touches. Only issue which we raised with staff just for safety is our shower head kept falling down and causing a huge bang. I’m sure this is fixable and nothing too concerning. We had a late flight so there was space to put our luggage and toilet to get changed and freshen up before flights. We used Uber to get everywhere. Do not use the ordinary taxis, you will pay a hell of a lot more. Highly recommend the Therme Spa and full day trip to Peles castle, Brasvo, Bran Castle (Dracula). We booked it all through GetYourGuide and still very cheap. Our only minor Criticism was the breakfast. For us it was very bland and not much choice. Drinks hot or cold was good. There was hit omelettes made up which was nice but nothing much to go with it. There was bread roles but not my preference of bread. I would have liked ordinary toast and toaster machine so I could use all the jams which weee available. There was cheese and hams but again slightly bland and not my idea of breakfast. However for the location and price we can’t criticise too much and it has not put me off returning to this hotel. Thank you very much for our stay

Lovely large room on the top floor. Hotel is in the centre of town so you can hear buskers and bars if the windows are open. But there was no noise at night despite the town being very lively on a Sunday evening. Walking distance to everything in the centre of town and a 20 mins bus ride from the train station. Breakfast was good: rolls, bread, slice beat and cheese, jam, cake, juice and coffee. However, it would have been nice to have some fruit at breakfast.

Service was excellent, great recommendations for local cuisine and a friendly welcome when we got in on an evening. Nice small selection for breakfast. Our room on the 3rd floor was large and clean. Great location near lots of bars and restaurants.

Small, old but reasonably good and decent hotel in the very center of the old town. Furniture is old but OK. Breakfast is limited but ok. They don't have a normal ironing board, only a very small table-top one. Service is good, so a good choice.

We stayed here as a family of 5 for two nights between Chris**as and new year. We were given two rooms both of which were very large, well kept, nicely decorated and clean. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is continental style which may look a little limited but was a good start to the day. It is in a very central location in the old part of town that is pedestrianised. There are lots of bars and restaurants near by. Being this central, it is quite noisy at night so if you are a light sleeper, maybe ask to have a room at the back of the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very clean and friendly staff. The hotel was small but it was still a nice place to stay. My husband and myself both said the same. Our room on the 6th floor was small and there wasn’t much space to put our clothes but that wasn’t such a problem. There are no plugs by the mirrors but again not a big problem. The hotel was always lovely and warm and after a day of sight seeing it was lovely to come back to a warm hotel. Breakfast was good but was the same every morning. I do think this hotel is good value for money. A lot of other reviews have said it’s been noisy, we could hear music but it wasn’t loud enough to disturb our sleep. Having said that it might be different in summer when the city is busy. All in all a great budget hotel. 😊
