I had to stay on the Island to perform an electrical repair at the Uist n Barra hospital. After 30 years of travelling for work I can honestly say this was the worst hotel I have ever encountered. I checked in as a sole traveller, and was given the key to my first room. It stank of smoke, even with nicotene stains on walls and ceiling. Bathroom was mouldy on the sealent seals, Bed was too uninviting I would have slept on the couch in reception if I had to. As I went to reception to complain and get another room, a bus load of tourists had turned up and started collecting their room keys. I was ashamed that somehow the Scottish tourist board, and bus/holiday company had promoted this pit, as suitable holiday accommodation these foreign tourists. There ws no welcoming Scottish banter, or friendliness, only an Eastern European management team and staff, clearly embarrassed with their offerrings performing the minimum of basic tasks. ....I ve had enough of a rant, but it could go on further...... book at your peril
