Holiday World Riwo Hotel.

We had our doubts coming after reading alot of the reviews. However, we leave in 2 days and can honestly say it's been a lovely stay. The staff are fantastic and the pool area is amazing. It could improve in places, the food isn't fantastic, very repetitive, but has been nice. Everything we've had has been cooked and warm. There isn't much choice if you have picky children. At night not once has there been chicken nuggets or anything. So we've always made sure our daughter has ate from the snack bar round the pool. They have burgers, hotdogs, pizza, chicken nuggets and chips. Plus sandwich stuff to make your own. It's great how you can use all the hotels, which we didn't no about till yesterday . Polynesian is amazing! But riwo pool is 100% better. The rooms are good, we had a side sea view. Which, yeah it sort of was. Always clean, shower and bath are fantastic also. Very spacious rooms. Shop in the hotel is good, a tad expensive! But does stock everything. Arcade room is just a storage room with 4 games in. So if your looking for that you need to go over to Polynesian, everything takes €1. Not any less or more, and there is a change machine in there. Wasn't working when we went but will be trying again today . Bus to the bottom is worth it, as walking back up is a killer! And last bus up is around 6pm.. taxis are also at the bottom, and the bus stop stop. Or download bolt and you can request a taxi to come to the hotel to you and you get discount through the ap. Overall, we would come again

What a lovely holiday we’ve had at the RIWO hotel in Holiday World! To begin, the staff are lovely, very welcoming and helpful. Not only this but the hotel is well decorated in the vast majority of areas - the rooms are slightly dated but it did not affect our holiday at all. We decided to pay for a half board service at the complex and we couldn’t have faulted the food, there was something different every night for dinner and it was all displayed beautifully. The outdoor pool area is lovely and clean and there are always sun beds available but unfortunately the pools we found were quite cold due to them not being heated. Despite this you can take a 5 minute trip on the complex shuttle to the beach club where there are splash parks- pools and a lazy river. A fantastic day out for young ones. The entertainment on an evening is definitely aimed for smaller children until 21:30 when other events take place but you can also visit the other hotels on the complex to watch their entertainment which we found helpful. Our only downfalls in regards to the hotel were- 1- Rooms slightly dated. 2- Small ants seem to be found all over the complex from the beach club to the rooms in the hotel but they didn’t bother us at all. 3- You need to get a taxi to most places as the resort is around 10 minutes in an Uber away from any shops or attractions. Apart from those three things we will certainly be returning and cannot recommend the holiday enough to families with children!

We visited here for 4 nights in February as a group of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. Transfer was quick from the airport, when we arrived we had not been allocated rooms beside each other so were told to go for lunch and receptionist would sort our rooms. On return this was all sorted and we were allocated 2 rooms on the 4th floor. Our room was actually an apartment, with kitchen, large bathroom with separate shower, living and dining area and bedroom with 2 double beds. A large balcony was accessible via the living room and the bedroom. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. We were all inclusive and overall I found the food good. Breakfast was excellent and dinner seemed to have theme nights. All the food I had was hot, fresh and well cooked and very tasty. My only criticism is the restaurant didn’t have a designated children’s section, eg no nuggets etc available. Snacks and drinks were available at the pool bar throughout the day and consisted of chips, nuggets, pizza, burgers, hot dogs and salads etc. At 4pm the hot food was removed and a selection of cakes and donuts were available. We were lucky with the weather but on one day it was particularly cold and windy with rain, there was nowhere inside to have food or get a drink and the snack bar didn’t have any covered areas. Not ideal and perhaps the inside bar should be opened if the weather is bad. Kids club ran in the morning and afternoon, my kids attended twice and enjoyed their visit. We didn’t watch any evening entertainment so can’t comment on that. The indoor pool must be pre booked and we did this when we knew the weather would be poor. I was very disappointed with this area, the pool is very deep with no shallower side for kids and no lifeguards on duty. The toilets and changing areas had no working lights so this was disappointing and difficult with kids. Location wise we knew in advance the hotel was quite isolated, we availed of the free bus to the bottom of the hill and walked into Fuengerola, this was a long walk and to be honest the resort felt run down and probably not worth a visit. Benalmadena on the other side is gorgeous. We ended up using Uber and Bolt which were both reasonably priced and readily available. We did visit the Polynesia hotel is a few minutes walk. It is massive and has a large arcade and ten pin bowling which was well priced. The bar there had a singer on in the early evening and this would have been nice to have in the Riwo as well. Overall we had a great time and I would consider returning in the future.

Fantastic hotel we are having a great time. Great choice in food and good beer on tap. The pool area is very child friendly and kids entertainment is great. Book with Jet2 you can’t beat their service, Highly recommend this hotel for families. All staff are friendly and good. Only thing needs improving is the sun beds need cleaning in my opinion.

Food is cold,chicken undercooked,pool is freezing,you have to pay to use the indoor pool+3.50 euros for a swimming cap.Paper cups rubbish,entertainment 0,room smells really bad ,reception staff no manners,the women manager not helpful at all.Very dated room.When we turned the A/C on, the dust was flying around the room. Very far from any restaurants, you need extra money for the taxi.

Where do I start! No welcome meeting the full week we were left to frantically scroll through Google to find our own activities for the children. The food is inedible, flies all over the bread area, luke warm at best, same food every day and no alternatives for fussy eaters with my child being autistic. Hotel staff are rude and not interested in any concerns I raised. I needed to take my medication on a morning so asked for a drink again staff refused to even give me a glass of water to take my medication with as all Inc wasn't until 11.30am apparently. Couldn't get to drinks at the pool as I felt so uncomfortable with the large group that was there blasting music and drunk!! Went to use the indoor pool charged to wear swim caps! Hotel room considering its meant to be 4 star was disgusting. Period blood on my sheets, brown staining around the mirror, I had to exchange my first kettle as it stunk of sick I then received a new kettle as you can see by photos had all white smelly contents inside that I cleaned in to the sink. Flies in the room that were dead, all my table was covered in white marks and mould under the sink. My feet were black the floors were that dirty. Finally managed to find a rep on day 5 who was rude and after my complaint still didn't rectify the issues. I spent so much money eating out from the hotel as the food was dreadful as you can also see by previous reviews. Staff gave me no welcome and immediately wanted a deposit. Staff are rude and clearly don't like the English. Not a single activity offered for my children and dirty rooms! Complex is well out the way so we relied on ubers on site shop is very expensive. Avoid avoid avoid. They want your money and the hotel is not as it appears online. Learn some customer service! Fair to say I will be claiming back on this.

Arrived here on 11 May for a weeks holiday. On arrival the hotel looks fab, but once in our rooms we started to realise that there were some issues, the shower pressure was rubbish and the water was either too hot or too cold. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable as was the sofa bed (with the amount of money we paid we didn’t expect any of us to have to sleep on a sofa bed) and as my kids r so young (3&2) we didn’t feel comfortable putting them in a room on their own so we all slept in the bedroom which was two small doubles pushed together, which again for the amount the holiday cost It wasn’t ideal. The room could do with an update. Lots of orangey coloured staining on floors and balcony, didn’t affect our stay however it’s small details like this that we picked up on. The entertainment was awful. The entertainment during the day around the pool was staff asking us to guess their age to win a prize. There was bingo too but it got boring very very quickly. Kids entertainment wasn’t great either. One of the games was for the kids to pass around a hat on their head and whenever the music stopped whoever was wearing the hat had to get off the stage. Kids facilities aren’t great but luckily my kids loved the park which was great because we could sit outside it and relax while watching them. The pools are freezing. And had to pay to use the indoor pool?? I will say though that the pool area was always kept very clean. The snacks around the pool weren’t great, first time I went to get something food was uncovered and had flies all over them. Breakfast was ok, I went for breakfast 3 times and couldn’t face it again. Very repetitive. The lunch and dinner was ok. I mainly stuck to rice and vegetables/chips because anything else I tasted wasn’t nice. Also food was cold 90% of the time so I had to reheat in the microwave that they have in the restaurant. The desserts were nice but the same every night more or less so did get boring. Not much selection for kids at dinner and lunch esp if u have picky eaters. I had a dodgy stomach for 3 days of the holiday and also was vomiting one of the days, my niece also spent a day vomiting then the whole next day in bed recovering so she lost 2 days of her holiday, not sure what caused this though? The hotel is a bit of a trek away from Fuengirola, or anywhere else, it wouldn’t be so bad if my kids were older but it’s not an ideal location if u want easy access to other areas Staff were generally very friendly. All in all the hotel was ok but I would never return, I have been to better hotels for a lot cheaper.

Very lovely hotel Clean and food lovely Very welcoming staff and large rooms. Very large complex and great for families with small children. Went for a 3 day holiday and would be very happy to return. Not too far from Malaga airport and about €11 to get into nearest town

This was our first family holiday and wow it was amazing we had the junior suite which was clean and very spacious with lovely sea view. The pool area was always clean and tidy, the staff were always polite and room cleaned daily. The beach club was really good my children age 7 and age 5 loved the various pools and the arcade area in the Polynesian hotel. We hired a car for the duration of our stay which I highly recommend it was a game changer for us and allowed us freedom to go and explore surrounding areas and even trips to Malaga and Marbella. The beach in the next town over was lovely and well worth visiting. The food was ok but could do with more variety between lunch and dinner as it was always the same. We arrived very late due to flight delays and upon arrival we were allowed into the select lounge for food and drinks that had kindly been put aside for us which was very lovely and greatly appreciated. The only bad luck we had was 3 out of 4 of us came down with a horrendous sickness bug which wiped out 2 days of our holiday again no blame with hotel these things sadly can and do happen and can be picked up anywhere despite that we all absolutely loved our holiday and it’s left us with more positive thoughts than negative.
