"This is my second time at East Lagoon and the quality of service has drastically reduced and the hotel isn't maintained well - it's in a run down condition. The rooms were unclean, the washrooms were smelly. There was a dead rat at the elevator entrance. The hotel seems to prioritise weddings/events over in-house guests. Food takes over 1.5 hours to serve, everything seemed so disorganized and chaotic. Overall had a terrible experience. Don't recommend this place to anyone - hoping to check out smaller but clean resorts in Batticaloa next time."

"Booked this as part of a tour of the island with this being a halfway break. Looking at the options for Pasikudah hotels the all looked good but it is rare to see a hotel maintain 5 stars over 2200 reviews like Uga so we had to opt for it. This place blew us away! From a lovely greeting from the lady manager which covered all the details, entry through the eye catching tunnel, and then on to the well sized rooms with a partial view of the bay. Everything worked in the room from the air conditioning and fan to the excellent shower. We were upgraded to half board via our tour company which meant we had a set menu to choose from each night. At other establishments this can be at best an average experience- not here! Every dish we had was top quality and well prepared and thought through. The breakfast buffet changed a series of its contents each of the 4 days we stayed but retained the basics. All the staff were exceptional, all polite and all eager to serve from the reception team through to the restaurant team, the beach bar team and all the back room staff who kept everything immaculate. The bay it backs on to was like a bath and virtually a mill pond - we were there mid May. This is quite expensive in terms of Sri Lankan hotels but fantastic value compared with some other hotels around the world we have been lucky enough to visit. Please go here if you can!"

"Seventeen of us travelling with Flamingo Lanka stayed at Amethyst Resort on 24th and 25th October 2025. Right in front of our room was the Pasikuda beach of white sand and turquoise blue waters of the ocean. On arrival, we were offered a tasty welcome drink. Baggage was delivered to our rooms and kept on the long-raised bench. The airconditioned bedroom, that included a fridge and a tv, was spacious and well furnished. The king-size bed had been made up with clean, fresh white sheets and large white pillows. Outside the room on the seaside, was a veranda equipped with a bench, a comfortable chair and a centre table. The bathroom too was spacious with clean and white fittings along with standard supplies of soap, conditioner etc. and a clothes rack. The shower provided hot and cold water. There was a well-equipped bar adjacent to the reception and the common lounge area. The dining area was large and spacious. The staff were exceptionally caring, professional, and helpful and attended to our smallest need. Our thanks also go to Thivanka who went out of his way to make sure we were well served, comfortable and contented. Thank you to all at Amethyst for our memorable stay."

Especially Adikari, Bismanth, Tharindu welcomed us very politely and Pushpamal safely carried our languages. Lastly I have to thank the live kitchen chef who was friendly and kind. It’s amidst stay place."

"Recently visited this hotel , basically I booked the Passivilla however the GM has graciously transferred us to Marina beach hotel due to the sandy beach facilities . The room sizes were big and the toilets are vey clean .All the staffs are very friendly .we had some lovely time at the beach with beach sports . I have to give a huge thanks to GM Janaka for his warm welcoming and hospitality . Lovely pool and the view was stunning . The food was average may be its a off season . I'll definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay"

"Our stay at Giman Free Beach Resort, Pasikuda was extremely disappointing due to poor management and lack of basic hospitality standards. The prices are very high, but the food quality is terrible. The portion sizes are very small, and the food was not tasty at all. It is definitely not worth the money. The management is very poor. On the last night, a man fell from the upstairs, and shockingly, the staff did not attend properly to the situation. The manager was not aware of guests or staff issues and was very unresponsive. Both the staff and management failed to handle the situation responsibly. The rooms were not cleaned properly, the TV was not working, and basic maintenance was clearly ignored. The swimming pool was not maintained at all and was full of dust, making it unusable. Additionally, the road leading to the hotel is in very poor condition, which makes reaching the place difficult. Overall, this hotel is not worth the price, lacks professionalism, and does not care about guest safety or comfort. Not recommended at all."

" In Batticaloa, it appears that hotel choices are somewhat limited. I found that The East Lagoon Hotel to be adequate for a few days’ stay. While the room and washroom were clean, the balcony area was a mess. The view from the room was quite nice but the balcony was too narrow and the walls too high to sit and enjoy it. Regardless, sitting down on the balcony was out of the question. I could overlook the cheap plastic chairs, but the fact that they were dirty was disappointing. On a positive note, the staff, particularly the manager, were friendly and helpful. However, we often had to track down a server whenever we visited the bar. The breakfast served was a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, though it lacked a Western option. I must mention that I was under the impression that the checkout time was 12 pm, as indicated on ***********, and I'm unsure why we had to rush out at 11 am. "
