Great location and close to everything we wanted to do while visiting. Easy walk to many restaurants. Good hotel breakfast with lots of selections. Shout out to Mayerly Vasquez; always very attentive and coffee cup was never empty. We also utilized the gym which was nice to have; however, it definitely needs some improvements - no TV, very warm, sometimes no water available and equipment is old. I recommend this hotel and will go back for sure.
My staying at the hotel was great , great customer service , great breakfast, employees at the front desk are helpful , the internet was good. My room was excellent, clean sheets daily , bathroom is super clean. And the location is superb you are close to almost anything in the north . The restaurant is good .
Saturday September 16 - Receptionist was extremely rude questioning why I was in the country and my documentation. I asked about my reservation, my family member needed a place to stay for two nights. Since one of my initial reservations was two queen beds I asked if that was easier or just adding the room. My reservation was for 1 person, with a king sized bed. The receptionist said I had to pay in full at once for my 1 person, with a king sized bed room. Come to find she charged me an additional $500 from the original reservation. I was stuck paying for a double room for 8 nights at $500 more than any reservation I already had. When I questioned the cost, that they had already charged to my accounts, I was told I needed to contact the third party company I had booked through or could leave but there are no refunds. Last year when I visited this hotel we were treated with kindness and respect, which is why I chose to return. This time I was treated like a criminal. Once to our room, there was a lizard in the room!!! Running around!!! Extremely frustrated and scared, I returned to the reception to share my findings for them to roll their eyes and change my room. They said lizards are native to the land and very common. At dinner - The waiter dropped waters on my aunt, then forgot my other aunts meal, then the manager came to argue about tips because my mom wanted to confirm the tip went to our waiter after over hearing the manager shout at the employee. The manager said he gets his cuts and the tips are distributed through the entire staff whether she likes it or not. Friday September 22 - During my breakfast I was not acknowledged by any employees. As I almost finished my meal..There were cockroaches crawling around the tables .. At the end of the night, as I arrived to the hotel room, I asked for toiletries as the given quantities are minimal and so with this heat I find myself showering at least twice/day - Then the attendant asked why I was using so many toiletries. September 22 - I sent 3 clothing items to the laundry - My bodysuit (blouse) was ruined. It was returned with yellow bleach stains all over the straps. This is absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever experienced at any hotel in my entire life.
The hotel is located a couple of block from a very nice shopping center with plenty of restaurants and shops. The hotel is very nice as you would expect a HGI to be. I would say it is even nicer than the same hotel brand in the US. The price was very reasonable. The hotel staff was very professional and courteous. The breakfast was very good. You can order eggs any style you like. It offers some items from the typical food from the region although that would be the one aspect I would say the hotel could increase its wow factor. I definitely would recommend this hotel and would return when I travel to Barranquilla.
We only stayed one night but the staff did EVERYTHING to make it great. When we checked in I explained we would be leaving at 5am and therefor would miss breakfast and therefor not have my much needed coffee. They went into action and had a coffee machine delivered to my room and had coffee ready. GREAT service! good location and very comfortable room. Gracias por todos
If you are looking for luxury as befits this chain (and other similar chains) in the US, you will be hard pressed to find it here. While a very nice hotel, it rates about one star less by U.S. standards. That said, I do think it is one of the better hotels in the city, and though I was not initially too impressed, my favor has grown in comparison to other disappointing hotel stays I've experienced in Barranquilla. The value is good for the price. I would stay here again as it is easily 1/4 of the price of the few hotels offering a higher quality stay. The rooftop pool was one of the draws for this hotel. Unfortunately, it was closed the night we were there. I think maybe they had just super chlorinated it because the water was slightly murky. It is a nice pool, though shallow, like all BAQ hotel pools. However, unlike many hotels in this city, the size of the pool did match the online photos. The room was large and the bedding was crisp and clean. The beds were more comfortable than the usual hard beds in Colombia. The mini fridge and the A/C worked well, as did the Wi-Fi. The room / floor was quiet. The buffet breakfast was good - not fantastic - but good. Several hot dishes, breads, muffins, juices, coffee, etc. The hotel is in Riomar, a nice area, but a bit far from the center of town...a good 4 or 5km away, which is a 20-25 minute drive. Easy for drivers to get confused with the GHL Hotel Barranquilla across the street, or the GH Hotel Barranquilla near downtown, or even the Hotel NH Collection Barranquilla downtown. The Buenavista Mall is nearby with eateries and bars, but it is not really walkable. A 20 minute walk in the heat of the day is rather far, and it's not very recommendable to walk too far at night if you don't live there. 6min ride. **Side note: Uber is not available in Barranquilla. Here, they use the app, InDriver. Taxis are cheap, though.

Faranada colletion Barranquilla definitivamente superó mis expectativas, el hotel es muy hermoso, sus camas extremadamente comodas, la calides y amabilidad del equipo se sintieron desde el check in hasta el check out, siempre dispuestos a servir y hacer sentir al huésped especial, shirly, zamir, Nayla y Alexandra fueron super atentos y sonrientes en todo momento, espero regresar pronto y volver a disfrutar de este magnífico hotel.

Back to European standards with a modern designed hotel and modern rooms, buffet breakfast, so all you can eat, instead of the tiny breakfast at most B&B's. Location close to a modern big mall. Standard room is ok with a good bathroom, bed a bit too hard and the biggest downside you can't open a window, which is noticeable in the hallways as well, a particular smell as there is never fresh air coming in. Free indoor parking available, good wifi.
