The White Horse

Very good hotel stayed 23rd March for one night, the rooms were excellent and well looked after clean and tidy. Booked a meal for the Saturday night and the menus were very good with a lot of choice. We had a starter and main meal and they were excellent very filling couldn’t eat a desert. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for you very good location for visiting local area. Would highly recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again.

Really lovely place, it is nice and clean and very welcoming, very friendly and helpful staff, the food was amazing, the home made steak pie was delicious, and the mixed grill was perfect, we will be returning soon, and have recommended to family and friends. Definitely worth a visit.

Myself and my partner went for Christmas lunch we did not know what to expect but we are so glad we did the meal was better than we could have hoped for the flavours great would highly recommend it The service was tops too

The room was very small, no changing facilities apart from bathroom. Water came from bathroom tap(only supply in room) bunk beds had no access to ladder. Although they said there was one never materialized. Water made us all feel ill and partner is pregnant too. Damaged wardrobe no handle, dirty bed sheets, took 5 attempts to find a clean one and that fitted. Lighting inadequate and dim, bathroom taps need replacing as very worn. Food was ok and staff were accommodating just the rooms were not up to scratch.

We had to share with 2 children only place to get changed was a tacky cold bathroom, bunk beds were not safe, we had to get water to fill kettle from bathroom and as I'm pregnant doing that has made me ill and our children are ill 2 , damp walls, dirty sheets, I asked them to change, lady had to do it 5 times as there was stains on all of them, cold room , just hoping my unborn baby is ok and my kids will be ok 2 , not happy wouldn't go there again, think we should get some money bk

The pub itself is good, evening meal was excellent and staff lovely. The room, totally different story, we stayed in an upstairs room that was definitely in need of complete refurbishment, the TV only worked when it felt like it, the sky connection had been pulled out so no sky either, the mattress was the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept on, with springs sticking into you all night, the duvet was disgusting although the cover was clean, I didn’t want to look at the pillows under the pillow cases. The bathroom, pink mildew in the grout around the basin, the toilet leaked on the floor, shower door handle broken, toilet was in such a squeezed in position with boxing along the side of it, it was almost impossible to use the toilet, the bathroom smelt of damp. On the whole the room was disgraceful, and as we had travelled so far and it was late, we had no other option but to stay. Now let me tell you about the continental breakfast!, the fruit in the bowl was green and mouldy, the only things on offer were, cereal, toast, ham, cheese and hard boiled eggs, no pastries, or other items you get with a continental breakfast. There are other rooms downstairs that look new, I’m guessing the people that have left good reviews stayed in there. This place should have a council inspection on those rooms upstairs, and they need to sort out breakfast its a disgrace

All in all a lovely traditional country pub. The rooms were exceptionally clean, all the maids were lovely and friendly! The food was amazing, very well priced also! The bar staff was helpful and friendly! The only couple of gripes I have is that the restaurant carpets were a little dirty, I stayed a couple of days and the carpets obviously hadn’t been hoovered very well as the same piece of dropped food remained on the floor the duration of my stay! The second gripe is one staff member ruined it for the rest, it was the lady doing breakfasts/cleaning in the morning, she could do with a little talk on customer service. Apart from that I would recommend, especially for the food!!

We were on our way to Whitby and decided to stay overnight to break our journey. This pub overlooks the village green very pretty, it has a pond. Staff friendly and welcoming. The room was basic but clean and comfortable and we slept very well seeing as it was a hot stormy night. We had dinner, I had the house salad with a rump steak which was delicious. Would we stay again, most definitely.

First floor room, basic but comfortable. Plenty of hot water, and a good shower. Staff friendly. Bar food is available, popular with locals, best to reserve a table in advance. Continental breakfast only served. Note, if staying over the weekend make alternative meal arrangements for Sunday evenings as they stop serving food early in the bar. Well situated for local rail station with regular trains north to Bridlington / Scarborough and south to Beverly and Hull Would I stay again? Yes.
