Just returned from 10 days all inc at Port Europa which we enjoyed.I want to try to write an objective review of this hotel having read some of the ludicrous reviews I have seen on this forum. The hotel is 3 star and should be judged according to this standard. It is in an excellent location and from the front has a fabulous view of the broad expanse of the sea and across the bay to BenidormThe 'derelict building site'which another contributor noted is in fact a Roman archeological site which is being excavated. The lake to the rear is a former Roman salt production area and is now inhabited by Flamingoes and other Water birds. All the staff are excellent, friendly, helpful and hard-working.Any one who had racism issues perhaps should take a look at themselves and learn a few words of basic elemental Spanish.Hola, buenas dias, cafe con leche, adios. The hotel guests are predominantly Spanish and I found them to be friendly, welcoming and accomodating A major problem with all budget hotel restaurants is to keep large amounts of food hot without continuing to cook and eventually burn.Hotel Port Europa is no exception and mostly the food was ,at best warmish turning to cold.Microwaves are provided to alleviate this problem if required but is time consuming. Some of the dishes served also were not to my taste but there is sufficient variety to be able to make a a meal We didn't see much of the activities or entertainment but it seemed to involve a lot of Spanish Line Dancing which was very lively among the Spanish guests [even the more elderl]but beyond my capabilities] The room we had was a 1 Bedroom Sea Viiew Apt and although dated was vey well equipped with a very large balcony.Lots of storage.A large Tv but no english[except.oddly enough France Today.A Diner /kitchen and another large Tv.
We loved this hotel, the location right on the beach , we extended our stay and got upgraded to a large sea view room with our own sun loungers, we had a coffee machine , kettle , fridge and best of all a Bose speaker to chill out on our terrace and watch the beautiful sun set, yes breakfast is busy but no different to a hotel back home on a weekend when there was a festival on , we were up early so around 8 to 9 was a great time never had to cue, food was lovely with fresh omelette made for me every morning after my run, the staff were lovely to us and the roof top bar and swimming area lovely, we live in Spain and love travelling to different areas, we found Calpe lovely the old town is beautiful and the fesita an added bonus for our long weekend away, I accept we were not on a package holiday so our experience was possible different to others would definitely return
Excellent Hotel, Excellent Location , Room was not ready so we chilled with a drink and a view! 2 pools one on rooftop floor 9 quieter and one across and under tunnel from hotel had to queue for sun beds so that was the only negative as the hotel is so big but just not enough beds , Breakfast is fabulous 2 places to eat we preferred-2 floor with outside terrace opens later, all in all could not fault the hotel
The Hotel is in a great location. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day, clean towels were left. There was a good choice of food, but never hot enough. Would definitely stay there again. The bus stops right outside the hotel, to take you to the old town.
