Hotel Herberge Zur Traube

This is a lovely small hotel in a centuries-old building just inside the medieval walls of historic Bad Wimpfen. It is an easy 10-minute walk from the train station. Though located on Hauptstrasse (“Main Street”), it was a surprisingly quiet location. We stayed in the “Friedrich II” room located on the third floor facing the street. This is an old building, so don’t expect level floors or many right angles, but do expect charm! There is no elevator, so one must be able to navigate narrow steps carrying your luggage. Our room was clean and nicely appointed, with ample sitting room and a small desk. The WiFi worked well. The bathroom was large by European standards, and the shower was excellent. Liquid body wash/shampoo (but not conditioner) is provided in the shower, and liquid handwash by the sink. There is a hairdryer. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful; depending on the staff, you might not be able to interact in English. Many who stayed here (while we were there) were touring by bike, and the hotel provides secure storage. The website’s photos are accurate, and interestingly, room descriptions provided size measurements which can be helpful. We enjoyed our stay here and recommend it.

Das ist schon recht rustikal, knarrende Böden, enge Treppen, alles irgendwie von früher, in einem historischen Gebäude am Beginn der Altstadt. Abgewetzter Teppich auf der Treppe zu den Zimmern vermittelt keinen guten Eindruck. Fahrräder konnten im Schuppen im Innenhof abgestellt werden. Ich hatte ein kleines Einzelzimmer. Die Möbel, Sessel, Stuhl, Sekretär, wirkten eher klapprig. Bett war gut. Und das kleine Bad war sauber. Gutes Frühstück. Getränkekühlschrank im Flur auf Vertrauensbasis. Die ganz große Begeisterung anderer Gäste vermag ich allerdings nicht so recht teilen. Das Hotel ist für Gäste, die es etwas moderner mögen, eher ungeeignet

War mit dem Fahrrad auf dem Neckarradweg unterwegs und für eine Nacht in Bad Wimpfen. Das Hotel liegt in der Altstadt und perfekt für einen Bummel durch das hübsche Städtchen. Es gibt zwar keinen Restaurantbetrieb mehr, aber es sind genügend Gaststätten in 200m Umkreis. Dafür war das Zimmer groß und freundlich. Inklusive einem Stück der 500 Jahre alten Stadtmauer. Ein wunderschöner Innenhof und ein gemütlicher Aufenthaltesraum stehen zur Verfügung. Ausserdem ein abschließbare Schuppen für das Fahrrad. Das Frühstück war ein überaus erfreulicher Anblick. Viele frische Sachen. Abwechslungsreich und vielseitig. Mit Obst, Müsli, Saft, Speck........Jederzeit wieder!
