We were traveling South and intended to stay at a hotel in Christiansburg, VA, but a torrential rain storm forced us to stop in Staunton, VA. At 1:30AM, after inquiring about accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Fairfield Inn (all of which wanted to charge us exorbitant rates higher than what was advertised on their websites), we stopped in at Tru. The night person on duty was very friendly and professional, giving us a rate that matched exactly what was on their website. We got into our room, which was spacious and clean and began to settle down. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom good sized, also very clean. Then, the power went out in the entire hotel. Let me be clear, this was not the fault of Tru, but the storm, which knocked out power to 14,000+ customers. The next morning, breakfast was served (the lobby had a generator) and it was enjoyable with a good variety. Again, the staff was very friendly and professional; the power finally came on at 10AM. Should I have a need to return to the Staunton area, I would most definitely return to this hotel (but not the others mentioned)
