Nothing about my stay at Showboat was enjoyable. The room provided me when I arrived hadn't been prepared by housekeeping, there were feces slung about the walls of the bathroom, there were holes in the walls, the room phone did not work. The hallway on the floor reeked of ********* smoke.
Went to the front desk, they agreed to provide a completable room. The hallway of the floor to that room also reeked of ********* smoke. The new room had been prepared by housekeeping but was run down and dirty. There were holes in the walls, stains on the carpet, mold in the sink, the room curtains were thickly layered with dust, haphazard repairs such as unpainted furring *****s stapled to the walls to conceal the edges of peeling or torn wallpaper.
None of the listed hotel amenities were open, many of the restaurants and attractions listed as part of the Showboat are permanently closed such as the House of Blues.
The new Lucky Snake arcade had vintage arcade games, a live music stage, and an ok bar. It was the only nice aspect of the Showboat.
Housekeeping never visited the room once during our two night stay. Our toilet broke in the middle of the night the first night, the room phone didn't work, and no one could be found at the desk when it occurred. I couldn't get the issue addressed until the next morning.
There were street gangs loitering in the hotel lobby openly selling and doing ***** when I checked in and neither the attendants at the front desk or the hotel security did anything to stop it.
The hotel does have a direct connection to the north Atlantic City boardwalk and beach.
