Norfolk Arms Hotel

Check-In was a breeze. Room came with fan (which is a god send in these humid evenings). Provided with more bottled water in the evening after finishing the water provided within the room. Pros: Very hospitable / provided extras / overall friendly service Cons: No mini fridge in room (I often bring snacks and drinks for my stay). Extended my check-out for £25.00 from 11am til 1pm . Breakfast is £12.50 per person, but we opted out after eating at the Italian restaurant across the street (very filling).

Lovely hotel.great location, dined in restaurant for dinner, food and service excellent however for a smart restaurant feel staff should have standard black not Tshirt leggings and trainers! Breakfast OK but small portions and hosting on entry for breakfast needs improvement not just asked room number!. At least 'good morning ' would be nice.

Had "coffee" in the Norfolk Arms this afternoon. Well, I use the term coffee loosely. My husband had to ask for his coffee to be remade, it was so weak it was transparent. I had ordered a spiced chai latte. I don't know what it was but it definitely was not a chai latte. I don't think the bar man knew how to make one. Granted, he DID use stuff in the jar marked 'Chai Latte' although after that, I don't know what he did. But there is no coffee in a chai latte, though lovey , think you ought to know for any future orders you may get.

Brilliantly situated in the heart of Arundel, and a short walk away from the castle and numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes. Nice formal looking restaurant, but we did not eat there. A cosy snug bar. The decor is a bit dated but it is more than made up for by the great location, and parking - for a very reasonable £5 a day.

The hotel location can't be bettered being in the high street of this lovely town. It's also a relief when driving down the busy street, with its nose to tail parking, to turn into the hotel's spacious car park (£6 a night) which is a real bonus. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The building is historic and there is an authentic feel to the hall way and and staircases although the fire doors could do with a good scrubbing. There also seemed to be a lot of work going on at the rear of the hotel preparing for the summer season. Fortunately, our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the high street and, apart from early morning deliveries, was quiet. There was a heater which you can turn on and off which was effective in warming the room up. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. WiFi was a bit erratic. The bath/shower was good and there was lots of water hot. There was a towel heater in the bathroom which, again, can be controlled when required. We did get the impression that the hotel was short staffed not least when we were given an apology in the restaurant for serving delay because the chef was on his own that night. The food when it came, was good. The breakfast, buffet and cooked, were fine. We gave the hotel's tap room a swerve as it appeared to be frequented by rather inebriated locals (however, there are lots of pubs and restaurants around the town). The big plus point for the hotel is that it is five minutes stroll around to the Castle, or 10 minutes up the high street to the Cathedral.

Our bedroom window on the ground floor was just a few feet from a raucous crowd of pub patrons. We wanted to enjoy a bit of quiet relaxation after hiking through the southern downs and visiting the castle, but couldn't hear ourselves think. Seven other rooms here are in a similar situation. The lack of privacy during afternoons and evenings was apalling.

Having enjoyed lunch at the Norfolk Arms, it seemed the perfect choice for a special family birthday gathering. Arrangements were made and requirements agreed with the venue, assurances received that everything would be fine. Menu choices and payment made five days in advance. Our arrival at the venue was met with a somewhat less than enthusiastic welcome; the set tables lacked tablecloths, as did the side table for the placing of cakes. The lack of staff should have been a hint as to what was to come: No bar staff in the main bar, to start; Food delivery was slow and muddled; What should have been a three hour lunch stretched to four and half; The interim manager became the man for all seasons, seemingly a one man band! He did his best; Initially told there was no parking, space was available on the day mercifully free of charge, which we would happily have paid for if asked. A lovely venue, in a superb location, properly resourced should have been able to cope with a party of eighteen without the embarrassing drama and delay. The post event managerial buckpassing was cringeworthy. Comments and feedback raised on the day and next day. We will not be having a repeat performance as anticipated.

Ok we like it here and yes we do keep going back, but there is a reason for that, this place remains wonderful! Another relaxing stay with great food and great beer served by lovely staff. Looks like the place is having a little bit of a spruce up as well as our room had had a bit of redecoration and some new furniture. So even more comfy. Also huge shout out to bar and restaurant staff who go out of their way to look after you. Looking forward to our return!

Great service when booking and up to arrival. Staff helpful and friendly. We stayed over Easter and arrived to Easter eggs in the room and got cross buns. Room was really comfortable, great food in the Castle room and superb breakfast. Will be recommending to friends for a break away.
