I had to say for a month stay at the Yays Docklands in March 2024. There were some positives and not so positives about my stay, so let's get started: Positives Apartments are spacious (I stayed in a 2 bedroom one), you'll find kitchen utensils, microwave, fridge, coffee maker (Nespresso) so this will help save on restaurant bills. Rooms are comfy enough with a full bathroom and you'll find shampoo and shower gel upon arrival so no need to bring along unless your skin type requires a specific one. I found the shower temperature to be fine yet it would suddenly get slightly colder during the course of a shower for no particular reason. Wifi does work (my Zoom calls went uninterrupted except for a day where wifi did not work for over 24 hours, no apologies nor previous advice from Yays), you can connect your phone to the TV, which you'll find one wall-mounted one in the main bedroom in addition to the living room. Yays is mostly used by tourists or, as me, people staying for weeks at a time, so it's very quiet during the day, I worked from the apartment a few days and I was perfectly able to enjoy the silence. There's a nearby street (Borneostraat) which is multiethnic and where you'll find great Turkish coffee, authentic baklava and many interesting restaurants. I encourage you to explore this street. Not so positives Location is a bit removed from downtown, however that's a matter of perspective. You can get to Central Amsterdam in about 15 to 20 minutes so it all depends on your particular preference. You can go there by tram, bus or even train (this one I'd discourage as it takes some walking or bus/tram). If you need some grocery shopping done, your closest supermarket is about 1 km away so be prepared to walk and carry your groceries with you. Staff at Yays is not responsive, cleaning arrangements are modified which is rather inconvenient and the cleaning crew don't bother to check if you're running low on gel or shampoo. All in all, I think the positives outweigh the not so positives, mostly if you're only staying for a few days as you'll most surely spend most of the time exploring Amsterdam and surrouding areas. Would I stay at the Yays again?: if I can find a better located alternative then no, I would not just for the convenience factor. Tip: Ask for a room located on a high floor, views will be better and you'll be more removed from the street noise (nothing to be concerned about, just one club located next to the Yays which operates Friday and Saturday evenings but the noise coming from it is very light). Hope this will be useful for you.

Stayed at the amazing Via Amsterdam recently. First impressions were great a lady helped us massively before arrival answering all our queries in reservations and was very helpful with tips of places to visit and getting tickets etc even very helpful travel tips from the airport. We came to check in and loved the place it’s about a 10 minute walk from the local station could be done quicker once you know the route. The whole reception lay out is huge, lots of seating, games area, even it’s own cinema area. We had a very nice gentleman on check in called Bart who was lovely, he helped us with directions, booking breakfast and dining tips. We dined in the Bar called the dude and had a couple of drinks. Bar is quite expensive but nice vibe only fault we found was a very limited restaurant menu choice, we did eat the burgers (no other choice) and they are recommended but you don’t want to eat the same thing every night. Rooms are spacious but quite sparse could do with a table and a couple of chairs to be fair so you can sit and chat. Very clean and comfy beds. Showers only and a bit small but offer free shampoo and shower gel, no towels so bring your own. Breakfast was a bit of a poor show and could do with improvements. For the amount you pay it’s not worth it. You could go into Amsterdam and buy something better for cheaper. We had seen online people complaining about not being central but honestly it’s no issue there is a metro within walking distance and takes you directly into Amsterdam central in about 15 minutes and run regularly. Overall had an fantastic stay and would highly recommend to anyone. You cannot fault the place. I did have a nightmare after checkout tho and was my only complaint as I was overcharged and tried for nearly a month to get a refund from the manager jonannes who wouldn’t speak to me because apparently he was too busy (not the best customer service from a manager) I tried calling and emailing but he just wouldn’t reply or sort the problem and other poor staff tried to make excuses for it not being sorted sooner, it was eventually sorted by someone else but after such a good stay it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed. Hopefully he has improved his customer service by now as this does not reflect on how good this place actually is.

Most unprofessional & below average hotel, I've ever seen in my life. This hotel charged me twice for my single stay in Almere, which is also far away from Main Amsterdam City. I booked this hotel online at their given rate with advance payment , I also got confirmation email from their reservation team. But when we reached there at night, they told me the reservation was made 1 month later. I said, it was your technical issue why should I suffer for that?! They refused to listen to me and very unprofessionally and rudely told me, ” you have 1 hour to decide, either pay offline for your stay or you can go to some other hotel ”. I was helpless at that late night, and they charged me again almost twice the fees which I paid online for my stay. And never refunded my online fees which they promised to refund me if I pay them off-line. Not only that, th room was full of Insects which is really a big issue..
ผผู้เข้าพักThe room we were given was one for people with a disability, which meant it was very spacious. The decor was nice, the beds comfortable, although a little soft. The bathroom was also spacious and had everything a disabled person would need. It didn't bother us we were staying in this room. We didn't have breakfast but had a coffee which was good. Because this room is on the ground floor just behind reception and next to the breakfast room we did experience noise. There is a 24-hour coffee and tea making facility in the breakfast room which is great. However, when we were staying, there were people in there even in the middle of the night, as we could hear the chairs being used (scraping sound which was very audible in our room). That got worse when breakfast service really started in the morning. It made sleeping a little challenging. We would stay here again, but would definitely ask for a room on a higher floor and further away from the breakfast room. Check in and out was quick and easy and staff were friendly.
The booked room was supposed to be available in the early afternoon, but unfortunately this was not the case, as they had not yet made up the beds. We had to wait a total of one and a half hours in the reception hall until we could go to the room. The time we had to spend waiting for the room to be made available was sweetened with complimentary cappuccinos. The accommodations were very spacious and had a large bathroom with a double rain shower, a bathtub, and double sink vanities, though one had a clogged drain. The toilet was in a separate small room. It was nice to have two separate bedrooms, as this was a family accommodation. In one place the wallpaper had visibly come off the wall and in another place the cladding on the headboard of the bed was slightly damaged. Furthermore, the remote control of the TV was so dirty that we did not use it. All these problems could have been fixed by the room service before handing over the room to the guests. It was not easy to find a free parking space in the parking lot in front of the hotel, as this hotel is a popular conference hotel. There were several events held there, so the parking spaces were quite filled by the company employees who attended. The evening meal in the hotel restaurant was excellent, as you can read in my separate review. The breakfast buffet was also very good. The selection of cold and hot dishes was impressive and one wished that there was such a good choice elsewhere. It was very positive that after mentioning the above shortcomings, an apology was made for the inconveniences and a price reduction of about 13% was subsequently refunded. It can be assumed that in the current situation, this hotel also has staffing problems, like everywhere else in Europe, and that in normal times no problems would have occurred.
Really good value for money compared to Amsterdam prices for accommodation. I was visiting family in Almere so it was perfect for my visit, really close to the train station and near shops and cafes. The hotel itself and staff were lovely. Has the basics you would expect and I was very impressed with the turn-down service - I thought that was a very nice touch. The breakfast is quite expensive for continental so I ate out at a local cafe in the mornings. The area itself doesn't feel the safest, there are definitely some dodgy people in the area so I was always aware of my surroundings and vigilant but never had any problems, as I was visiting family, I wasn't out and about alone very frequently.
