Physically a very nice, beautiful hotel in a great seaside location. Nice grounds. Nice rooms. Nice bar. Nice restaurant. All physically very nice. That’s about it for its good qualities. Not impressed with their reception or restaurant staff (one waitress at the outside bar (Joanna) & a valet (Dimitrius) were the ONLY really helpful & proactive staff members - they were both great). When we got there the reception desk was not well manned so had to wait a bit. When I finally got to the desk he had a hard time finding my PAPER reservation and answered the phone twice while “assisting” me. Finally said our room was ready. When told the assigned room I asked if it was a Sea View (as I had reserved). No, it was not. They “kindly” upgraded us to a suite (although, as a Diamond member, probably should have done that anyway) since apparently they had given away all the Sea View rooms. But were told the new room wasn’t ready. It is now 30 minutes past regular checkin time (we arrived about 2.5 hours ago) and still no word. Went back to reception - hmmm, the room is now ready (for how long?). Never had this problem at a Hilton Family hotel in the past (in any country!). And this is supposed to be resort (Curio) level. To continue: asked for a blanket when we got to the room. One hour later, called again. Left the room @ 1 hour and 40 minutes. No blanket. Absolutely no hotel information in the room. No phone numbers to contact the restaurant for reservations. Room service (supposedly) but no menu or number for them. No information about the business center, fitness center, …. Nothing. Went to reception, they had to print out new sheets with all the numbers and times, etc. Still no room service menu or way to access one. Told to go to the bar to get one. No map of the resort with locations for things like gym, spa, which restaurant is which, …. No signs showing where you are or arrows pointing the direction to different parts of the property. A lot of staff around the main restaurant just standing and talking with each other. No offer to help as I went in. The restaurant for dinner was a buffet. No problem. No mention of how we get a table, how to get drinks, that it was just a “pick a table & start getting food as you walk in” situation. Had to track down a staff member to ask. Rooftop bar open 1600-0030. No so much. Went up around 2030 for a nightcap. Nobody to be found and bar completely unstocked. If you want decaffeinated coffee of any type good luck. It’s been a 50/50 proposition either day or time of day or location in the resort or particular staff member you ask. All that said, the outside pool/seaside bar is very nice, as is the staff, w/ very good food. This could be a phenomenal hotel if they get their act together. They have all the right parts. Just the wrong (or very untrained & unmotivated) staff. There looked to be a very small company retreat ~30 people) of some sort so maybe they were just “overwhelmed”. Of course, if you
