I was here over Father's Day weekend as it was also my 77th birthday. As my son lives nearby, I've stayed here before. Being a Marriott elite member for nearly 40 years, I requested a top floor room when I made the reservation and contacted the hotel the day before I arrived about the request so I could have a quiet room. At my age with several health issues, I need to have a good night's sleep. A longtime friend traveled with me. When we checked in, unfortunately, there were no top floor rooms available and we were given a room on the 2nd floor. The first night was quiet as there was no one above us. The second night was a different story as we could hear excessive noise from above--a thumping noise and the sound of kids running around, late in the evening (after 9:00 pm). When I checked out the next day, I mentioned to the front desk about the noise but I got no response. The following night we stayed at a Residence Inn in Richmond. I had requested a top floor room at that hotel and I got one. I mentioned to the staff at the Richmond hotel about the noise problem at Waynesboro and they were concerned and apologetic. That should have been the reaction at this hotel instead of being silent. Over a year ago, I had similar noise issues with this hotel and also problems with check in. I had 3 different rooms during the first 15 hours I was there. I contacted Marriott for assistance and after their investigation, I was awarded 20,000 points for the inconvenience I had experienced. Although it was nice receiving the points, I would have preferred a hassle-free stay. This hotel needs to better address the concerns of its senior guests, especially those that have been with Marriott for many years. Although I've had some very good stays here (when I'm usually on the top floor), it's the bad stays that I remember the most.
