The dismantling and repair of the East Tower for the first time in 110 years, which started in 2009, smoothly ended in 2020 and the cover was removed, and the memorial service for the fall was completed in 2021. I happened to look over Oike just before the rainy season, and I wanted to see the sunrise of the smoke back and the moon.

Katsumadaike is famous for seeing the tower of Yakushiji over the pond. It is called Oike, and it is just off Yakushiji on the map, but you have to climb to the bank after crossing the Kintetsu Line. I used to be able to walk along the bank on the east side, but I was disappointed that I could only go to the road on the west side, and the surrounding area was a residential area, and there was no taste as shown in the picture.

If you take a picture from the west Kyoto side over the pond, it will be perfect. It is convenient for tourists to rent a bicycle because it is between Nishikyo and Kujo Station. If you go by car, there are many narrow roads around here.

The view of the East Tower of Yakushiji Temple over the pond is famous here. I walked in the opposite direction from the station to Yakushiji Temple, and I was worried because I couldn't see so much on the way, but when I went out to the pond, the scenery was as expected. This is a spot worth a visit.
