Yellowknife does not have much choice of hotels offering Sunday brunch. As it is extremely popular, the manager or owner has exhibited an air arrogance. First, he told me today that each person is only entitled to one drink for groups voucher. There is no refill of coffee or tea. I am amazed that the charge is $39 per person, yet one cannot ask for more coffee. The sitting time is strict. We booked 11 am and arrived at 11:15, we thought we could enjoy the brunch casually. We avoided lining up for food but chose to wait, hopping that there will be less crowded afterwards. It did after about an hour and at noon, the male manager told us that we only had 15 minutes left, and I did not have the main course yet. I hurried to try the lamb and it was tougher than rubber. Most food was already gone and they would not refill until the next session. Fortunately, at the mercy of the manager, he gave us a refill of the coffee for one time only. Should I be grateful to him and I wonder. What an experience. The food, to be honest, lacks variety and if it were in big cities, it would not have survived. I hope a competitor will soon consider providing a better option to give the tourists like me a better choice.
The apartment suites do NOT have AC and blinds were broken. Moved to a regular King room that had AC. Room was clean and comfortable. They need better black out blinds (this is the land of the midnight sun after all). Front desk staff were lovely and accommodating. Restaurant breakfast staff were seemingly confused and service was meh. Evening staff were nice and had it together.
Sadly not a good experience for us--room was far too warm and maintence unable to change this, heating system in entire hotel very noisy. Unclear if there was any housekeeping services available. Water leakage around bathtub. Breakfast included !!!--we quickly sought out sources of more edible food. Staff we did have contact with were courteous. The hotel is in a good location.
Always pleasant to stay in Super 8. Never ran into any problems with Super 8 before. Front desk worker is always helpful, and always easy to talk to. The only problem I had was wifi connectivity. I had to keep manually connect to the internet. Other than the internet very clean room. I recommend to stay at Super 8 also convenient to other stores close by.
