I will begin with this, we did not end up staying. Although I felt compelled to write this for our disappointment upon arrival. We booked this hotel months in advance to attend a Nexus interview the following day, and over the Sheraton! Coincidentally, the weather that particular week had extreme temperatures with heat warnings including air quality warnings. We drove 3+ hours after finishing work, to literally arrive to the hotel being told they AC is not working, anywhere in the hotel! They knowing/ having this intel days before our arrival. We were neither called nor notified pre-arrival for us to make alternative arrangements!! This shows lack of respect for themselves, their customers including a Platinum Elite Member such as I! We were told if we stayed, the window does open albeit a few inches! It was not ideal. They said, the alternative is, they send us to the Sheraton, at same rate. Ok, so here are my reasons not booking Sheraton originally. Rooms are extremely small. And, TripAdvisor reviews for which I do rely on, were less than I would consider. We have never had any luck with Sheratons albeit now part of Marriott brand. Hence, the reason I was 💯 skeptical. So after attempts to make immediate alternative arrangements, I came up dry, and acquiesced to the Sheraton. I did express my reasons for not wanting to stay there. FYI - we got no offerings of any kind. No discounts, no free parking, no price adjustments, no offer of Marriott points. NOTHING! This is a huge inconvenience and now the restaurant we wanted to eat at, becomes unavailable option. I’ll explain! FYI - I will submit a separate review of the Sheraton Windsor, and FYI, in advance - we would not stay there again! Two reasons —- small room, and I mean small My husband thought the a door led to a closet well, it led to the bathroom! The bathroom is small! Smaller than a Fairmont bathroom!!! If that’s even possible. And, parking OMG parking is $15 + taxes. And, as others mentioned in their Sheraton TripAdvisor review — good luck finding parking in the garage (not owned by Sheraton) it’s on a first come first serve basis and if you wanted to leave for e.g. such as us to go to dinner at 7pm! The front desk staff eluded to good luck getting parking when you get back! They told us if we couldn’t find parking other locations within a few blocks of hotel. So, we stayed, didn’t go to the restaurant I wanted to, instead went to another one around the corner recommended by staff. Restaurant Cucina 360. Also, and I guess anywhere in Windsor downtown core, vehicle vandalism is a concern. The Sheraton had us sign a waiver saying we wouldn’t hold them accountable. Never have I ever had to do that, even staying in Toronto for which we do a lot of. So, are we disappointed and put out? 💯 Should we, as Platinum Elite or really any guest, be given Marriott points to express “sincere” gratitude? 💯 I chose the Towneplace Suites for the size of the rooms, and based on these reviews!
