What a delightful find. If you are ever disheartened with the choice of accommodation in Windermere / Bowness (because a lot are dingy, overpriced and down at heel) look no further than Cedar Manor. Although based in the hustle and bustle of the wonderful town of Windermere, Cedar Manor has a wonderfully peaceful and calm feeling. As soon as you drive through the rather splendid entrance you feel completely secluded, the noise of the road disappears and all I was aware of, occasionally, so perhaps only on the hour, was the distant, rather charming sound of the church bells. A very pretty garden kept immaculate (even in February). Stepping through the beautiful porch we were cheerfully greeted by owner Jonathan who showed us to our room and what a beautiful room it was. Very spacious, fabulously decorated with absolutely everything one could possibly need and impressively clean. Coffee and tea making facilities, fresh milk, a little bottle of fizz and water in the fridge, a coffee machine and cafetiere and some very tasty chocolates. The en suite was spacious with lovely products, robes, a fantastic shower over bath all squeaky clean. I can't get over how sparkly clean you manage to keep a chandelier in the bathroom!! We ventured into Windermere in the evening for a meal at Hooked (also excellent), returned to Cedar Manor for an early night as we had been on the road all day and were to be again the following day. We were asked to fill out a pre-book breakfast form, which I always think is a fantastic idea as it helps all round and also reduces waste. After a very peaceful night in the 'giant' bed, we headed down to breakfast which was served on linen clothed tables with linen napkins (always a winner) and not at all 'stuffy', all white crockery and to me one of the best things ever . . fresh butter slices on a dish and ready to spread - attention to detail in this hotel is second to non. Not a plastic marmalade pack or butter portion foil in sight - what a treat we were both thankful for. Also appreciated was the honey straight from Cedar Manor's own hives! Lucky bees to live where they do! We had a light breakfast of porridge, which of course, was lovely and tea and toast. Although we didnt have the cooked breakfast I have absolutely no doubt it would be nothing short of perfect. Jonathan came and had a quick chat with us and Caroline came and said hello between gardening 'hat' and 'church duties' hat. Thank you for a lovely, peaceful night, we would highly recommend Cedar Manor and will certainly be back. If we may!
