My time here was really enjoyable. I was made to feel welcome from when I first walked through the door. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and helpful. I would also highly recommend the food, they have a wide variety of different choice from the menu. I tried many different things over my week stay and was all extremely tasty. Would recommend anyone to use the hotel for business or pleasure.
After an exceptional stay at the Wigan Holiday Inn Express on September 20th, 2024, I didn’t expect such a stark contrast in service at another location within the same hotel group the very next day (September 21st, 2024).
This time, we experienced a completely different attitude at the front desk—rudeness and dismissiveness. Despite multiple requests for assistance, such as having my room closer to my friend’s, an hour late check-out (which my friend was granted), and fixing the issue with my room’s air conditioning (my friend’s room was fine), we were met with vague, unhelpful explanations that treating a fool. It felt like dealing with political officials dodging direct answers.
For the first time ever, I left a hotel feeling genuinely angry. They might be better suited for a career in politics.
I was impressed with the outlook of the interior entrance. However, kids beds was so uncomfortable and one of the bed has a broken with sharp metal wire hanging upwards which injured my daughter's back. This shows how careless the management team are. overall rooms are way too small for a family the space to move around is via the bathroom area. Staff are OK!. I have previously stayed here and had a pleasant experience I decided to rebook again for a weekend getaway . After booking online I called to enquire if an early check in would be an option as I was making a 2.5 hour drive up from the midlands . The “gentleman “ who answered the call ( and I use the term gentleman very reluctantly , as there wasn’t anything gentle about his tone ) seemed to become very perplexed very quickly on hearing my enquiry . He wasted no time in telling me no , an early check in more then likely wouldn’t be an option as customers check out at 11am . When I tried to explain my reasons for asking he really wasn’t interested & just continued very abruptly I might add , to shout at me that no no you can try calling after 12 to ask but no it’s very unlikely you could arrange an early check in . I told him I wasn’t looking to check in for free & that I’d happily pay extra but his tone was one which made me extremely upset at how I was being spoken to . When I asked his name he told me it’s was Ushan and that he was the reception manager. ( shocking customer service is all I can say ). Needless to say I cancelled my booking and am extremely disappointed. Won’t be booking here again either
