Room furnishings in the house, grounds, setting are very nice. Fried fish cooked below us stole some enjoyment for a couple hours the first night. Intrusive sounds associated with thin walls disrupted the second. Our experience, in the house, was not worth the cost.

Absolutely the best place we stayed on this trip! The cabins are right at the beach and the views are wonderful. The cabin was first rate--felt like I was in a luxury hotel. Very clean, comfortable beds, and nice linens. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware. It was quiet and peaceful to sit on the porch and watch the water. Highly recommend!

Beautiful location - right on the beach. The stars at night were spectacular. Peaceful. Great sized cottages with all you might need. Lovely deck areas to sit outside in the morning or evening if you don’t fancy getting sandy! There isn’t much around for groceries and so stock up on essentials on your way!

We stayed at the LH&H in 2018 and paid approximately $250 per night and it was immaculate. Our most recent visit was 8/10-8/14 2026. We paid approximately $600 per night. At that increase were were expecting the same condition. Unfortunately this was not the case. You can see from the pictures below: Two windows were broken and we had to keep them propped open with items we found in the cottage. The hook on the back of the bathroom door was broken. The hair conditioner dispenser in the shower fell off the side of the shower. This happened in the evening when we were not using the shower. (It was being held up by cheap glue). There is rust on the shower rod in the bathroom. There is mold on the handle in the shower. There is rust on the front door. The grill was usable, but was warned down. Our recyclables and garbage were never taken away while we were there. We heard that there is a new owner.

Lantern Hill and Hollow is a little slice of Heaven ! We stayed in the Moonbeamer cottage and it did not disappoint. It was impeccably clean and tidy and had everything we needed to start and end our days . The grounds were peaceful and the ocean so soothing . The crashing waves lulled us to sleep every night !!! The Housekeeping staff were so accommodating and friendly and even though they were all very busy the staff took the time to answer our questions and give recommendations on where to eat and sights to see . 5 stars from the Harveys

We had an overnight stay here. We arrived in cloud and fog, didn't get the full impact of the view until next morning, but it was worth waiting for. The room was spacious and well furnished, quite luxurious after an overnight ferry from Newfoundland. No catering but we went along to Main Street restaurant and had good food there. If you are doing the Cape Breton trip this is worth a stop over.

We had the cottage with one bedroom and therefore a larger lounge. Spacious and reasonably well equipped, but with a few basic items missing, such as a baking tray. Air conditioning and ceiling fans were useful. Appreciated being able to sit on the veranda looking at the sea. Walks and beaches nearby.

The grounds at Lantern Hill & Hollow are wonderful, and the two-bedroom cabins are attractive and well appointed. That said, I do have some constructive feedback about the property in relation to cost and how it rely to an over all experience . It would be beneficial to have a designated location where guests can exchange used towels for clean ones during their stay. In addition, providing instructions on where to dispose of trash and recycling would be very helpful. Since there is no housekeeping during a stay, you are expected to reuse the same towels for the duration of your stay. I understand that the cabins are smoke-free but that smoking is permitted outdoors. Unfortunately, this became an issue during our stay. The landscaper and members of the cleaning staff smoked daily on the porch of the cabin next to ours, and the smoke regularly drifted into our cabin. Aside from being an intrusion, I also felt it reflected poorly on a property of this caliber. For a property that commands premium rates based on its location, and accommodations, I would not expect to see noticeable rust on the radiators, dead insects in the window casings, or trash piled up around the grounds. Overall, we did enjoy our stay, and there were many things we appreciated. However, considering the amount we paid, the overall quality did not fully meet our expectations or the price point. I reached out to management about this, however I never received a response. As for these reasons I would not return, nor recommend this lodging.
